In their crosstown trail plans I believe they have two trails breaking off beside the Sobeys and meeting again at where the trail meets Westmoreland. I have a hunch think they're trying to passively rebuild the fractured Centreville ROW over a longer time period to allow for easier cross-town travel and, of course, to have a fairly critical old rail ROW as a city asset.

It mostly follow the old rail beds where it could, Sobey’s being one of the exceptions.

The mid year development update was just presented at this month's economic vitality committee meeting: https://pub-fredericton.escribemeeti...cumentId=16894

Some highlights:

- Huge $248.7M total in development activity is driven largely by the building permits for the completing the courthouse and the new performing arts centre.
- $29.6M in commercial development is the highest in five years and the new retail development on Two Nations was highlighted.
- $65.7M in residential development is a bit below the five year average of $69M.
- 69 single detached housing starts which is between the number in 2022 and 2023.
- 200 multiple unit starts is the lowest since 2019 - hopefully this will pick up in the last half of the year
- One of the residential projects highlighted was the 51 unit apartment building on Wallace between the trail and KFC. I think they said that this building will have 20-25 income geared affordable units.
- The 53-unit building being built on Bishop was highlighted as the first project to fall under the new workforce housing zoning.

Not sure if they're going to have a crane for the new Playhouse, but it looked like they had the start of a base for one when I went by today. Maybe a small crane will be going there?

Noted previously in post #14046. The base was installed a couple of weeks ago. Remainder to be up late summer/early fall as work progresses

First Light Distillery is opening a cocktail bar next to St. Louis Bar & Grill on King, called The Cove.

Weird to see any residential buildings being demolished. I do not believe I have heard of any replacement discussion taking place yet.

Should have sold it to the city and turn it into low income housing. Low hanging fruit and they passed on it.

I doubt the city wants to own any sort of housing. And it may not have been worth saving to begin with.

UNB is in discussions re a funding formula for new on-campus housing. Whether the parties reach an agreement or not still to be determined. I would expect the demolished building lot to be in play if/when UNB decides its in their best interest to proceed with new housing
