Not sure if it's just me but recently I'm getting more issues using skyscraper forum. I'll click on one of the links at the top to bring me to a specific thread and it will open a completely different spam website. Sometimes I have to go back and try 2-3 times before it actually brings me to the thread.

Never did that before but recent as of the last week or two...

Interesting. I find that it actually improved for me a bit. I think the adds between posts are gone (they were there for maybe two months). I'm no longer getting messages that forum is too busy or offline temporarily.

Same. Adblock or ublock origin works wonders. Only time I ever see ads is if I'm not logged in using a different browser.

On my home laptop, SSP is super passive aggressive about ad blockers. Box appears at nearly every page I open saying "feel free to use the site without supporting us by blocking ads" or something. I should take a screenshot next time.

As of yesterday I am unable to access most of SSP without disabling my ad blockers on my desktop and mobile browsers. Has anyone else noticed?

I am using uBlock Origin and have no problems accessing the site ad free.

I try and support the ads. The site needs to make money and they are google ads so usually relevant. Are they that bothersome? Ad blockers make a lot of sites unusable.

Nope - using uBlock Origin on Firefox desktop still works perfectly for me.

Not for me.

Same.

To answer Harley's question, haven't had any issues on this site lately. I imagine once they move to manifest v3 fully it will become a big issue.

Although I think mods get an ad free experience regardless, not sure..

The pop-up telling me to disable my ad blocker started appearing a few days ago on Chrome (with AdBlock plugin). If you refresh the page once or twice it seems to go away until the next time you load up SSP. Another reason to switch over to Skyrise..

I keep the ads (even as a moderator) and have no issues with them for the most part. They are kept at the top and bottom of the discussion page. No pop-ups, ads in the middle of a discussion were present for maybe a month or two, but have gone away now.

Yeah the ads and forcing adblock to be off is unbearable.

Just got it and it wasn't uBlock Origin that was causing it but Privacy Badger.
It was blocking "a.pub.network", I switched it from blocking the network to just blocking cookies and it works... for now.

Yeah this site has some of the most annoying and intrusive ads out there, on par with any fandom site....essentially making the website useless.

I got the alert telling me to deactivate the Adblock while I was using a browser that didn’t have any Adblock installed. I even deactivated all plugins to test it and the site kept barking at me to turn off non-existent Adblock. The other site is so infinitely better in every way. It’s a shame more people don’t use it more often.

The other site needs a couple of things to really take off I think. More breaking news, and adding/continuing/contributing to some of the more conversational non-building threads about infrastructure, the economy, politics, etc. The building threads are doing quite well, and as a frequent media contributor it's a night and day experience for me when posting.

I think getting the map and database together would also help, I just haven't had a whole lot of time to do it because each project takes around 30-40 minutes to properly add. It WILL come though when work slows down and I have time.

I visit both sites several times a day, but I enjoy using and contributing to the other one so much more.

Add the following to your "Custom Filter" for Adblock plus:

skyscraperpage.com###_2o8yog

skyscraperpage.com##._1x7oe5p

By doing adding these two items, Skyscraperpage should still be ad-free (at least for me).

The one catch is that the page might not load properly, if that happens, try reloading the page a few times.
