Demolition of the former Wheeling Inn structure started on Wednesday. In its place will come a new, sustainable tourist center / downtown gateway, part of an estimated $13 - 16 million redevelopment that is boosted by a $5 million federal grant. It will be located across the street from the new "Doris on Main" development, and right next to the Wheeling Suspension Bridge (
