Makes sense. That is the last vacant CRU in the Mapleton Plaza. It is probably the most appropriate location in the city for this retailer. All of a sudden there is a paucity of available appropriately sized vacancies in the city.

Nashwaaksis sounds right for the north side location; I distinctly remember south side being "Fredericton Market" in 2003, though

Not surprising. That building just feels out of the way and forgettable

According to the CF Champlain leasing plan, the former lululemon space has been leased. No indication yet as to who the new tenant is.

Interesting update on Rona - Just heard on Q103 an ad for hiring with positions starting in "Mid August in all departments" confirming the location as well.

It is looking more and more likely that they are going to leave the building façade generally untouched. This is a good thing,

I discovered another new tenant moving into the Granite Centre.

Pizzeria Bros, a chain out of Montreal will be occupying the end CRU next to Infinity Vapes in Plaza Six.

https://pizzeriabros.ca/en/

Quote:
Pizzeria Bros first opened its doors in Old Montreal in 2016. We provide a fresh thin crust pizza made with quality ingredients in a quick service setting. We want to satisfy your hunger and save you time.

Our dough, sauces and dressings are all homemade. The pizzas are cooked in our high-heat ovens and the results are delicious!

Pizzeria Bros is expanding throughout Canada bringing the best pizza to cities across the country.
This will be their first location in Atlantic Canada Their only other (non Montreal) locations are in Hamilton and Edmonton. They have multiple locations in greater Montreal.

COBS Bread really wants to establish an increased presence in the region. They are currently waiving franchise fees for prospective franchisees.

They are looking at Moncton, SJ and Freddy amongst others elsewhere in the region. There are currently two locations in HRM.

Someone is on retail talk and share has posted that JYSK has job openings for Store Managers in Moncton, Bathurst and Charlottetown. I can’t think of what space could possibly be almost ready to occupy that they would have job postings. The typical store is close to 20,000 sq.ft.

FYI Kimganae has re-opened last week at the old Rice Bowl location. Fantastic food with reasonable prices.

JYSK would have to build new (? Granite Centre), so it would be somewhat precocious to advertise for a store manager already, but, IHOP advertised for management positions for their Moncton location before shovels hit the ground, so, you never know

Granite Centre would work, and there is a site next to rens pets that Plaza REIT lists as being 18,000 sq/ft of future retail. Those 2 sites seem to be the most obvious to me.

Either of those two locations would be excellent

Not to mention that JYSK would be an upgrade over some of the recent tenants that have been locating in the Granite Center.

One reason that I think it might not be granite centre (despite it being a good location) is they they appear to being opening this 3 locations simultaneously. To me this would indicate they are dealing with a single property owner. Plaza, REIT comes to mind as they own the Peticodiac Plaza where Rens Pets is located and they own a large amount of retail plazas in Charlottetown too. They also have a property adjacent to Walmart & Kent in Bathurst that could be a good location up there as well.

Of course I could be wrong and they could be dealing with multiple party’s but it would be a whole lot easier ok JYSK’s part to just deal with a single party and open those 3 stores all together.

There are now banners plastering the windows of the two CRUs adjacent to Bath Depot in Wheeler Park, confirming the arrival of Laura and Melanie Lyne. . The banners state that the two stores will be open by September.

The signage for Stacked Pancake House in the Petitcodiac Plaza across from Champlain Place has been installed.
