I completely agree with you. This has been going on for a while. Too long. About 10 years ago I was walking through the Pearl District and ran into an architect, who was at that time on Portland's Design Commission. He was just coming from his latest project in the Pearl, a building clad in charcoal gray panels. I asked him the same question, "Why in a city that is cursed with gray skies during the winter months, would a designer choose a dark gray building skin??" He could only say that it was currently popular at the time.....
