It's because one of the food banks is across the street. If you eliminate that, this probably won't be an issue. I don't want to hurt the homeless people in the area by closing Oak Table because they do good work, but that's one of the major reasons why.

The property at 159 Scott Street (former E-Mart Groceries) is no longer listed on Realtor.ca, so I'm assuming it has sold. The burned-out building was listed for sale for $100,000. The real estate ad noted that the City was supportive of a mixed-use building on the property. Hopefully something new gets built there soon.

World's most over-engineered surface parking lot?

Wow. Thats unbelievable. I guess we get the odd parkade at least.

Way more happening in Osborne than any other central neighbourhood, including downtown. River and Osborne has definitely become a magnet for homeless.

I saw that crane this morning on my way to Sunday Barbers! I had to rub my eyes and look twice.

Osborne Village is the only neighbourhood south of downtown with a soup kitchen/homeless shelter (Oak Table), so it kind of makes sense.

But that means the cops would have to actually get out of their cars. Best we can do is a 100 million dollar budget increase.

881 Grosvenor Ave:

The sign in-front says the building is 2&3 bedroom apartments. Not too often you see that nowadays. I guess the area is wealthy enough to warrant some more expensive units.

Wait so they filled the hole in and now they're drilling into the hole they filled?

They didn't exactly fill the hole. They placed gravel down in the hole. I also don't believe there is a below grade portion of this parkade/building.

Its tough to understand what needs to be done there. Years ago when they originally dug the hole they placed/poured some piles. I don't know exactly what was completed. I am speculating that maybe all of the piling was finished and the drill rig is there to do the perimeter walls? The gravel will give them a clean work site if the piling is in fact done.

Seems like it's just that, a working pad for equipment. Maybe they'll pile through it to bedrock for the new build. Or like you said dig out whatever piles they may have done before.

If there's a crane, it would seem like maybe they'll core caisson?

River and Osborne has been very quiet for at least the last month. I believe it's because the shelter in the church basement has closed (for the summer?).

Sounds like the parkade/commercial portion.

Is there something more current than this for the design (form 2020):

Watch them just build the parkade and not the residential portion.
