I heard this is the first phase of a larger entertainment district / residences / hotel destination called Whalley World. Think Resorts World but in Whalley

I wonder if that little triangle of land is owned by the City and will be subject to an improvement plan of some sort.

The triangle is designated as a 'plaza' and i'm fairly sure the city owns it. The original plan was to have it as a temporary parking lot

I'm curious on what will eventually go up facing 108th, unsure if this developer owns those plots but I hope they do. Tien Sher is soon going to start on a very large development in Penticton, wonder why they haven't moved forward on any phases for this one. The plan was to launch sales for tower 2 in 2022 after the first one sold out in 48h.

Yea, prior to that they were really only a wood frame developer. They also have a large development going on in Penticton. It's between the developer and his son.

They made the right play getting this going. The land for the Whalley Station tower was nearly 2 acres and purchased for $27m in 2020, easily worth double that now.

Flamingo tower 'topped' at 36 storeys on landmark Surrey site
https://www.surreynowleader.com/local-ne...-storeys-on-landmark-surrey-site-7433146

"We're moving fast and forward," Sethi said, "and our future plans are basically two towers next to it where Flamingo Hotel used to be, and then another tower where the liquor store is now. We're still trying to make up our mind whether we're gonna do a mega-tower or two smaller towers. So that'll come with the help of ITC (Group, construction company) to determine the feasibility of doing one or the other."

I've noticed a few sites have added Canadian Flags to them, there's one in Burquitlam with flags all over too.
