Roots is closing their flagship store at Burrard and Robson according to Daily Hive. Apparently moving to the former Tesla showroom space and what was going be the TWG tea room, one block east.

Funny.. they say there's no news on what will fill the Roots space.. but it's been mentioned before that Arc'teryx will move there and the Arc'teryx space will be taken over by Peak Performance. I wonder if this is still happening.

Ron.

They knew Roots was leaving so you assume the other parts are correct as well. They also said Roots was moving into the Tesla space.

Quote:
One interesting retail move not yet announced publicly is the exit of Roots from its iconic corner space at the northwest corner of Robson and Burrard Streets. Sources told Retail Insider that Vancouver-based Arc’teryx came in and scooped up the lease from Roots, which didn’t necessarily want to leave its prime corner space with a retail location considered to be a flagship store. Retail Insider interviewed Roots co-founder Michael Budman about the 4,500 square foot store in February of 2014, when Roots had renewed its lease and planned to renovate and expand the top-performing store. One source told Retail Insider that the new Art’teryx would span about 6,400 square feet, which means there could be vertical expansion of the building.

My point was that half the article is useless doublespeak that could apply to any business.

Yea, I didn't realize what they were about either as it's not obvious from the article.

In Vancouver adjacent retail news, Bellingham will be getting another Trader Joe’s in a more convenient location for Canadian shoppers on Meridian, in the former Bed Bath and Beyond space.

Now leave some product on the shelves for those of us who live here!

Yes but the area needs more vape shops and tattoo parlours with more payday loan franchises and 24hr pizza places.

... So this is what the Oakridge Harry Rosen might look like.
Looks nice but ordinary / nothing special (like a department store).
Looks a bit sterile for a menswear store, but I guess that's the modern look.
It seems to rely a lot on the merchandise for any colour in the space.

Along with the clothing/display racks I guess the floor/ceiling treatment is the only distinguishing thing that they can play with.

From the article

Quote:
Each store is meticulously designed to optimize client experience and interaction, and to seamlessly fuse together sophistication with ease. With this in mind, every update has been inspired by the art of tailoring—including a shoe wall based on a measuring tape—and fostering relationships between customers and their trusted advisors.
Quote:
“We start with Edmonton. Nail it here and then scale it,” said Rosen. “Edmonton is really the new concept you can expect to see. Oakridge Park, the opening for the mall has been delayed a little bit but let’s call it 2025 summer or fall. Late summer probably. We’ll be opening a flagship position there. I believe it’s 18,000 square feet.
Compared to this it looks fairly tame.
