Is the skytrain line really going underground that far back on this plot of land? I thought much more would be "open", unless this development includes more enclosure of the line somehow. Check the aerial veiw.

The only thing that kind of bothered me is the cylindrical building protruding out into the sidewalk area, creating a dangerous choke point at the intersection. Imagine a car lane just being blocked like that (like say when there’s an accident or constructions where there’s orange cones to force cars to merge into another lane). It’s not very nice and with a bike lane there as well, why do they think that’s a good idea?

The footprint of the station building doesn't appear to have changed from the original plans, and the setback and bike lane is still there. The oval feature is a canopy roof that (if permitted) would partially cover the sidewalk and bike lane. You can see it illustrated better on the developer's website.

I believe it's just that the roof that hangs over the sidewalk.

I hadn't noticed this initially. It looks like they won't be restoring the CVG to cut diagonally across the site but to have it route in-front of the station then snake along Thornton to 1st. They do have a proposed bike route running along the north edge of the site under or adjacent to the Skytrain line which would result in a far better connection at Thornton St.

The green space surrounding the portal could make a nice little landscaped greenspace, obviously with adequate fencing.
