Looks like Sterling Bay will be building a 420 unit building at 120 N Racine. This is the site that Farpoint Development bought from the CTA, no renderings yet.

Really curious what the 725 Randolph project will look like coming out of the staff review process. Had been really excited for that

420 units is honestly kinda low for an entire city block. I would expect around 600 units in a two-tower scheme like Porte / 855 W Madison. The purchase also includes the parking lots east of Racine that could host a third tower, so 800-900 units could easily fit there.

Hopefully they can widen that block of Racine, it's uncomfortably narrow which is not great for a 1/2 mile arterial street - tiny sidewalks, no trees etc.

I wouldn't get too excited until there's an anchor tenant signed. Chase is staying put and renovating their existing tower.

Oh I'm not waiting with bated breath haha hence use of "had been." I had mostly written this off given Chase staying put and Equinox seemingly opting for 919, but the fact it came up in the meeting and is apparently still in the works (at least in some sense) piqued my interest

Additionally, there seems to be willingness among the panelists to reduce the parking in the development. The parking is designed to be able to convert to more productive uses in the future

Phase 1 (on May Street side) should start early next year, phase 2 (Racine Street side) should start after phase 1’s completion

Alley is designed to be closed to traffic and become a pedestrian space when not in loading hours

Really dull and uninspiring design by bKL. It looks like a crappy imitation of One Chicago's design principles

Meh, it's definitely better than the previous NORR and Gensler designs.

There is a good amount of spots where this occurs, but my honest answer is not nearly enough

This city needs a huge density boost in order to remain affordable and give a needed boost to suffering retail districts.
