They have now removed the mini tower crane from the construction site for this building on Mountain Road, next to the Quality Inn.

This construction site is completely moribund.

I hope the City steps in and forces the developer to clean and secure the site. It's a real mess right now.

Probably unrelated, probably financial, but you immediately wonder if this was part of that suspended engineer's portfolio (was to have underground parking).

Last edited by LewisVillis; Jun 24, 2024 at 6:32 PM. Reason: accuracy - changed 'fired' to 'suspended'.

That’s a really good point. That could be exactly what is going on. Interesting.

That makes a lot of sense. I kind of forgot about that possibility. Regardless, the City should step in and force the developer to do something to clean up and secure the site. Also, she was not fired, she has been suspended by the APEGNB as well as Engineers PEI and can no longer practice engineering. I believe she ran her own consulting firm.

If I was to guess, I would say that there are three CRUs undergoing interior fit-up at the Horsman Centre. The only confirmed tenant so far is Brunswick Optical. These three units are adjacent to one another, so it is possible that two or even all three of these CRUs will be combined into a single store. Brunswick Optical did say they were "relocating and expanding." We will have to keep an eye on this.

Indeed. Someone must be locking up the land for a potential large scale apartment development.

It should be noted that the north branch of Hall's Creek passes through this property, and, a fairly large portion of this property could be considered a flood plain (I have seen this flooded during major storm events). Even allowing for this, there could be room for a significant development here (with environmentally sensitive mitigation).

Thanks for sharing.

Per PAOL, the WEST branch of Hall's Creek (protected as public lands just to the east https://paol-efel.snb.ca/paol.html?v...n&pan=04218891) forms the southern boundary of this site, mostly.

Assuming a good portion of the site is usable, it could be accessed in a couple of ways.
-Off Gorge
-Through an extension of Briarlea across this other vacant area over Halls Creek, specifically the gab between the two low lying public land blocks https://paol-efel.snb.ca/paol.html?v...n&pan=05356074
-Through any of the occupied homes between 2155 and 2181 Mountain

There is a new site under construction in the MID West Industrial Park, apparently for a $5.2 million, 41,000 sq. ft. warehouse for Gentek Building Supplies at 111 DesBrisay Ave.

Also, all the structural steel for the new Greystone Energy Systems manufacturing plant, also on DesBrisay has been mounted. This will be an impressively large building.

There is a third mystery lot in the MID West park which has been cleared, and, construction seems imminent. Given all this, the MID West park is probably at 90% capacity. The phase two expansion of the park can't come soon enough....

So, six storeys, but, smaller than the Hampton Inn overall (smaller footprint). The two brands do not completely overlap, because, as advertised, this brand specializes in family suites.
There is now heavy equipment digging on site

Halifax developer, Adam Barrett bringing Rona Building Supplies to Moncton.

There are several coming to Atlantic Canada but the Moncton location will be at the old Cabella’s location.

There will be quite a cluster of hotels at the Mapleton exit off the TCH (Hampton Inn, Four Points by Sheraton, Holiday Inn and Home 2 Suites).

So how does this affect the Junction Urban Village expansion? The hotel component of their development was supposed to be a Home 2 Suites.

Is there still room for this brand downtown?
