I think the sticking point regarding any redevelopment of 1222 Main, and the adjacent empty lot is the old Telegraph Building in behind.

Apparently whoever owns the building is being difficult (from what I've heard), and wants a very large amount of money in order to sell. This is the rumour, but I am not sure how reliable this is. In any event, I fear nothing much will happen here for some time.

Funny that, should that render hold true, we've actually lost ground in the war on downtown surface parking with this restaurant. My only remaining hope is that the stub adjacent to Main will have something other than more spots, seeing as painted lines aren't showing for the moment.

I'll even take a nice bike rack at this point.

I have always found this building to be visually unappealing, but, it is gratifying to see it being renovated and repurposed.

Two brothers has been finally shown. The Mayor shared some photos in Facebook, it will be identical to the 3 sisters.

The render, looks to be 15, so basically the same as the 3 sisters. It doesn’t look bad, honestly 15 would be fine. Though looks like they have plans for have commercial/retail facing the trails, as well as a pedestrian connecting the two buildings, with a walk through park, not sure what it’s called.

I made this observation over on the Three Sisters Thread.

This explains two things:

1) - why I saw them pile driving on the other side of Foundry Street next to the Hal Betts Complex.
2) - why there were rumours floating around of a sale of the two easternmost fields in the complex. They weren't sold, but the ditch immediately adjacent is going to be sold.

It appears this complex is shifted a bit further to the west than what we anticipated. It will be interesting to see what they do with the lot to the east. The render seems to indicate it as green space. The question is - is this the long term plan moving forward?

Might just be my eyes, but I'm counting 14 storeys ABOVE the podium. So maybe 16/17? In the background, one of the sisters is only showing 12 above the podium.

I wasn't sure if it was 16 or 17 either.

Another possibility is that it is 15 storeys streetfacing, but, becasue of the slope of the land towards the riverfront, it is 16 or 17 storeys towards the back.

Your right, that podium looks at minimum 2 storeys 16/17 seems accurate

Thanks! They look great. I especially love the podium and the bridge/skywalk between the towers, and the expansive glass windows on the left (?west) building.

I also agree they look to be closer to 16-17 storeys since the podium looks like it could be several floors (or just with high ceilings?).

It would be amazing if they start this project almost immediately after completing the Three Sisters. I won't even be surprised if this starts before St. Bernard and/or Infinity.

I have little doubt that this project will begin as soon as the tower crane is no longer needed for the Three Sisters (and as soon as possible after this land is no longer needed as a marshalling yard). Lafford has been approaching the Three Sisters as an assembly line. The "Two Brothers" is for all intents and purposes an extension of the Three Sisters project. This will be an assembly line too. If Lafford is aggressive, I could then see the tower crane then moving over to the nearby Tim Horton's site immediately afterwards (maybe 2027).

I predict excavation for the Two Brothers n early 2025, with the crane making an appearance by early fall 2025. If they could find some way to start excavation this fall, then the timeline could be accelerated.

- As for Infinity, I am resigned to the fact that construction won't begin before 2025.
- As for St. Bernard Place, I am hopeful we might see activity on site by the fall of this year (2024).
- Ashford/Downing is a mystery. They still need to complete necessary infrastructure first, and, since there will be municipal/provincial funding in the mix (city market, convention centre, possibly city library), this will further slow things down due to haggling over public monies and final design. I predict nothing before 2026, possibly 2027.

An article in this morning's Acadie Nouvelle states that the Lafford project that we call "Two Brothers" will begin this Fall.

Thanks. I take this to mean excavation work. This would mean the tower crane would move over next spring. Lafford is using an expedited construction schedule. I love his aggressiveness.

This project is considered separate from the Three Sisters. It will need it's own project specific thread. Once we have more information, and know the actual name for this development, I will make one. If shovels are going in the ground this fall, then I would expect a formal announcement within the next six weeks or so.
