i know people love paving stones and it gives the area some "charm" but the sidewalks are missing them or deteriorated with the salt/sand. I'm able bodies and wear flat shoes, couldn't imagine a female in heels or those mobility challenged.

LOl..there is a road parallel to Selkirk Ave that constructed a road like that a couple of decades ago. Half of the bricks are missing. I'm under the assumption some were used as weapons.

That is Magnus Ave and it was a 1982 "test" of pavers for residential streets and the city has deemed it unsuccessful in a 2010 Free Press community article, but has not done anything to fix the problems i.e. repave with a different surface.

My suspicion is that the snow removal equipment caught a high spot due to frost heave and removed chunks of the pavers that were never replaced and now get a cold patch like a pothole.

There are other streets designed the same way (some in the exchange district, that still look great. It's magnus Avenue. Kids, drunks, or even gang banger looking for a weapon (or something to throw through a window), may have pried the bricks from the street.

^ potential development at 120/128 James Ave.

It's not a for sure project yet, but would be a new 10-storey where the warehouse is and 4 new floors on top of 128 James.

Ah, yes I see. Thanks. I had the wrong property.

Was thinking it's the empty lot directly across from pumphouse, east of Bertha. I thought something had been proposed there in recent times.

Loftworks is going on 15 years now. Maybe that future development will actually happen! I have zero idea how it would be come feasible now vs before COVID times.

That render is not that accurate anymore - except for the curved wall at the corner. I think balconies are gone, and it is 2-floors taller.

i wonder what the taupe material is....doesn't look like brick.

we've been talking about the cost of brick on here....the alternate price to change the brick on that project in st. boniface to hardie board was $150k.....on a 20+ million building.

Where was this criticism to the 90210 monstrosities across the street?

When did 127 Bannatyne become an architectural masterpiece? It's also in the same National Historic Site.

Marketlands?

None of these are exactly stunners.

Developers need to build given the financial constraints they face. Or we can be content to leave things as they are.
