If we're the Blizzards, can we at least have the mascot be a lizard.

(It could be a tribute to Les Nessman.)

Seattle did the singular Kraken, so singular Mammoth or Yeti isn't unprecedented. Still think Yeti is a weird choice. Outlaws is great, Mammoth would be good too, Swarm is pretty good (DC would become "The Hive").

Outlaws would have been a cool name to give a new franchise in almost any sport back in the 70s. Not as much any more.

Mammoth seems a bit too try-hard.

Yeti needs to be plural in my opinion, regardless if "Yeti" is similar sounding and number of letters as Utah. Plus, aren't Yeti only located in Asia? I thought these bigfoot/abominable snowmen/yeti things were regionally-named, kind of like typhoon vs hurricane vs cyclone.

I would go with Swarm... it's a bit generic 2000s non-pluralized minor league sounding, but it is kind of cool and fits in with Utah. Plus the announcers can all say "and they are swarming to the puck tonight".

One argument I have heard in favor of the "Outlaws" name is that there is something in hockey called a "shootout" and the Outlaws name would allow you to get creative around that.

I understand the connection to Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, but I still think "Outlaws" sounds a bit too generic, there are several professional sports teams in North America, that use the Outlaws name. Also, I don't think most people, outside of Utah, make the connection between Utah and Outlaws.

"Swarm" sounds like a minor league team name to me, but it's not terrible.

Mammoth is great; by far my fave. You can shorten/nickname it to the Tusks. Animals are usually solid mascots, and it's oh so unique. Instantly one of the best names in sports.

Yeti and Swarm are fine but far less inspired. Slightly above mid.

Outlaws is lame. Tough guy mascots elicit eyerolls and are both less lovable and less cool than animals.

I've definitely come around to Mammoths. I hope that's what ends up winning.

I mean, it'll be Mammoth, not Mammoths, if that changes your opinion at all...

Mammoth sounds better anyway than Mammoths.

And we can call the Delta Center The Cave (did Mammoths live in caves?).

You don't have to. The Jazz are not usually expressed in the plural.

Different sport, of course, but I wonder what the Colorado Mammoth would think about it. https://coloradomammoth.com/

People had a chance to check out the Delta Center for season 1 configuration and many aren't super pleased. Even the unobstructed views aren't great apparently.

I really, really hope we hear about the actual renovation plans sooner than later. I can't fathom what they will be able to do in only 2 offseasons. It's still very concerning to me. It has to be drastic

It looks as bland, boring, and authentically non-Utah as the Utah Jazz black and yellow rebranding.

It's not exciting at all, but about what I expected for year 1.

I have a conspiracy theory that they chose these colors because they would be neutral to any of the 6 remaining names.
