I am in support of this project but the appealer does make a couple good points, mainly about about Freed being sketchy. The pollution and the sketchy meeting advertisement tactics seem weird to me. All in all though, I'm glad it passed.

I can’t believe in 2024 we are still letting parking drive the discussion about building housing. Specifically affordable housing. This project meets the city’s requirement. How can a councillor decide on his whim that it’s not enough.

The process is f*cked. This is exactly why we need as of right development. Ross Eadie showed up to oppose and clearly hadn’t even looked at the proposal. Where are they going to plant their trees he demanded. I mean. Those circles on the plan are trees Ross. Totally embarrassing.

This would have been a huge gatekeeper scandal if they had cancelled it. Hundreds of thousands of dolllars have been spent. The project is out for tender. It met everything the planners wanted. It was unanimously approved at community committee. How is there a process for people who have no familiarity with the project or the neighbourhood stop it. Browaty was demanding to know if the business owners were opposed. He was positive they would be. Had he actually read the submission he would have seen letters of support from all the surrounding businesses and the local biz.

It’s a contaminated site because it was a gas station and garage. She tried to pretend that remediation would be done on the fast and loose. There are very strict requirements for remediation.

She also claimed the developer didn’t advertise his public consultation. He exceeded the requirement of the city. He even held two because almost nobody showed up to the first.

Freed is a very good developer.

It is completely unfathomable to councillors that people don’t own cars. It’s like suggesting people don’t eat. The world has changed. This developers first building built to the zoning requirement and is nowhere near capacity for his parkade. And that’s a market rent building. Not deeply affordable like this one.

Eadie is blind, but also a grandstander. Before he was elected to council, and before buses had automated stop announcers, he rode several buses along Graham until he found one where the bus operator didn't announce a stop, and then stood in the middle of the road with a sign to protest.

you should have seen when he rolled into the room.....of course he was 20 minutes late and walzed in talking and making all kinds of noise....zero respect for anyone in the room....then sat there heckling speakers under his breath....we need term limits.

the media should report on this, public shaming will resolve that! that type of behaviour (late, talking about others, etc) is extremely rude and unacceptable, why accept it, elected or not. if that was my work environment the meeting chair or leader of that person would address it!
