That block of Dawson from Gilmore to Madison is a very lengthy block that needs a crossing or two inbetween. It is especially so in order to slow down car speed on that road as it’s often used to bypass Lougheed. You have businesses and dense condos on both side of that block of Dawson which means more pedestrians and other so on. More of those wide sidewalks should be mandatory and the default for those built-up areas. Probably could reduce it from 4 lanes to 3 with the middle being turning lanes for both sides. Put in a bike lane to prepare for it to link up with Grosvenor Brentwood Block when it’s ready.

The building seems like it got occupancy this Tuesday! The sidewalk outside is kind of a mess though and seems a bit temporary.

They finally enclosed the condensing units that were exposed on the podium deck.

The only thing I don’t like is that half the site is basically a surface parking lot. Also, what’s with the weird jog in the curb along Dawson

I think the open space will provide a little bit of relief from the absurd density that is planned next door.

Those jugs look like something from a Dr. Seuss book. And what is on top of them? Shredded bicycles?

A closer look when they drove by a while ago.

A few night shots, I'm a fan!

The public art does a little light show, I'm not the biggest fan but it's a little goofy fun I guess.

Not sure how to embed imgur videos so here's a link

Also the sidewalk is very unsettling, it only feels comfortable to walk in the centre. For some reason, it's angled down, then up, then down again so there's drains in the middle of the sidewalk.

It looks like about half the lot at that back doesn't have any structures and is mostly just loading etc. Is that correct?

There are a couple EV Modo car share stalls and I think a public EV charging station. Actually most of the back lot is parking + the parkade entrance.

There seems to be a few projects that do this near metrotown as well. Burnaby towers have a lot of height, but their FAR ends up not being that high

Yeah, I had thought it would be a courtyard with a Phase 2 to the north, but no word on another phase.

FYI the area directly north of the new lane is part of the Honda dealership lot and as far as I know there aren't any redevelopment plans for that property.

Thanks.
I think that's the only one that didn't move down to the Still Creek area?

Well, in Brentwood the elephant in the room is Carter of course.

Then there's also the weirdo used car lot at Douglas and Halifax.

The longer they wait, the taller they'll build.

This is pricey:

Small summer followup on this development. The oil canning seems like a permanent feature. It's a shame, it looks pretty bad to me even though the rest of the design tends to draw the eye away. Click the image for larger version.
