The NIMBY reaction if this happened would be too funny. They would wish they had just gone with the 20 storey version

No, no, if they just try one more protest, the city'll give in and build a park instead!

Strata councils try to minimize costs.
A [large commercial] landlord may be more willing to spend money to maintain the assets for their reputation.

That's my thinking too - the longer this draws out, the taller it may go.

"Pending a resubmission"

I've lost count how many proposals and revisions they've had for this one there are so many.

No idea what this one is for, I'd be surprised if they are going too much bigger. Might be to do with reducing parking provision based off the latest no parking directives from the Prov.

Crombie 2023 Annual Report

They mentioned tendering the project in 2025 if they get the project approved this year.

Only other medium term project is the Lynn Valley Safeway site. 3410 Kingsway/Tyne is going through "concept planning to support a policy inquiry submission"

It's back, and taller than ever. The in-person open house is now set for June 25th from 5-8pm, at the Italian Cultural Centre, with a UDP review set to follow on July 10th.

Looks good. Could probably use more childcare space.

Nice to hear some good news.

This is probably one of the more important projects to have move forward in the Metro-Vancouver area, in that it will act as a needed catalyst for the entire Commercial / Broadway Hub area.

NIMBY's be like,.... "Please!!! Just make it stop!!! Give them their dang approval already!!!!"

Every time this project goes away for a while it comes back even taller.

And to think when it was first proposed they were throwing conniption fits over 20-something storey tall towers.

EDIT :
I just checked the first page and the initial proposal was for 11, 17, 21 and 24 storey towers

The project proposal has practically doubled in height (granted, with one less tower) since then.
LOL!

I guess getting more density is more important.

This is nice but people could already be living in the original 2017 proposal. That would be better IMO.

Yup.. as well people could already be riding the LRT through the world class city of Surrey and driving over the George Massey bridge. Ugh.

The architecture is very plain, but I love the colour, if it ends up being accurate.

Considering Westbank's Senakw models looked much more bronze than the glazing now being installed, I wouldn't hold your breath for colour accuracy here.

Hope the balcony outriggers mean they're thermally-broken rather than slab extensions

Sigh... too true. In a striking parallel, the George Massey tunnel replacement bridge was also proposed (and early works started) in 2017 and it could also have been done by now.
