Ab-so-lutely.
There is no tangible need for a supertall in Dallas right now. All a supertall would be good for is looking pretty at a distance, but I think our skyline is plenty pretty as is. Hitting zero surface lots inside the downtown loop is the bigger milestone to reach than any new supertall would be and there is a lot of work to go on that front.

I think all of the horizontal growth in uptown/turtle creek has had a greater impact on the skyline than one or two supertalls would have had alternatively.

Maybe Dallas skyscrapers doesn't get the attention it deserves because they don't build the taller skyline altering towers that Austin and Houston to a lesser extent does. They're more interested in infill, which isn't a bad thing imo. Hopefully one day those larger skyline altering towers start getting built. Moving to Dallas in July, can't wait to see the skyline grow.

A three-tower development planned for Dallas’ Knox-Henderson neighborhood is moving ahead.

Knox Promenade, a project from Dallas’ Stockdale Investment Group and Houston-based Hines, will replace retail buildings and parking lot space on the approximately three-acre block between McKinney Avenue and U.S. Highway 75 at Armstrong Avenue.

Dallas’ city plan commission on Thursday approved development plans that call for a multifamily building, an office building and a senior living and memory care building, with the inclusion of an existing retail or restaurant building.
Dallas-based architecture firm GFF and Kohn Pedersen Fox out of New York are behind the design.

Dallas breaks ground on $3 billion KBH Convention Center expansion

The Honorable Kay Bailey Hutchison attended the groundbreaking for the $3 billion project, which aims to create more jobs, boost tourism, and form a bridge between downtown and South Dallas.

Those behind the development said this is a part of Dallas that has long been overlooked until now

"This is going to be a true game changer for downtown Dallas because it's going to take an area that right now is kind of walled off with an old building that is 65 years old," said Craig Davis, CEO of Visit Dallas, the tourism agency for the city. "And it's going to completely transform it into green space and a brand-new building with state-of-the-art offerings."

In the middle, there is the giant hole for the underground parking of the North End site.

Directly above the giant hole, the two buildings under construction are 2811 Maple on the left (380 ft) and 23 Springs to the right (399 ft). The 23 Springs tower should pass the horizon line from this view point.

^^ I'm genuinely impressed by the growth of the Frisco/Plano area, especially around the SRT/DNT intersection and a few miles in all directions. This looks to be the site of a former development that failed, though I can't recall the details - the one with the giant hole left from a planned underground parking garage, I think.
