They have started landing the 5th floor precast concrete floor slabs on the south end of the Candela building. Should be done the 5th floor within days and they should start installing the 5th and 6th floor structural steel posts and beams next week.

How bad is the rush hour traffic getting to/from West 5 along Oxford? I ask, because of the incredible population growth out there coupled with the fact that Oxford, which presumably is the main access road to London, is only two lanes (and also has to accommodate rapid growth in Komoka, etc.).

It is not horrible coming into the city yet from Komoka, but definitively getting busier.
Turning left from Westdel onto Oxford at 5:30 is getting progressively worse, I live in Riverbend and generally am sitting waiting to get through the light straight with 20 cars lined up blocking the lane as they are all turning left. Same with the Commissioners/Oxford intersection coming west is nasty, I would hate to work up Oxford and have to drive through that daily.

I've seen backups on the west bound Oxford at evening rush hour that have cars lined up all the way to the bridge. The City and County need to accelerate their plans to widened and install the roundabouts and serious planning needs to address twinning the Thames bridge at Old River Road or replacing it with an all new 4 lane bridge to deal with the traffic volumes today and for the next 100 years.

They have rd. abouts planned for almost every intersection in the riverbend area. The oxford and commissioner insection is the only one that needs it and the city rejected it, lol.
Useless!

Super frustration no question, they could have also put in another pedestrian underpass if they wanted to avoid the roundabout traffic like they have on the east side.

Have now got the 5th floor concrete elevator stairwell shaft walls poured on the south end with just the north end to form and pour. They also received a big delivery of structural steel for the 5th and 6th floor posts and cross beams on the Candela building. Have already started steel wall framing on the ground floor for the partition walls. Should start to see the exterior insulation being installed soon on the Spektra 6s building as they have now got all the windows and balcony doors installed. Grading and prep for the concrete curbs and sidewalks in the driveway entrance to the Eve Park condos has started.

Structural steel posts now going in for the 5th and 6th floor on the new 8s building. Should see the 6th floor slab cross beams going in by end of the week in preparation for the 6th floor precast concrete slabs.

I haven't been by Riverbend in months, so I don't know if anything else looks to be going into the new plaza beside the gatehouse, but I did see on a Byron FB group that Bloomingtails, a pet salon currently located in the plaza at Baseline and Boler, is moving there the end of June.

Not much activity still, it looks like there are 3 units being prepped for tenants currently. I walk the dog in the mornings and detour behind this plaza out of curiosity.

You are correct that Bloomingtails is moving there, there is also a daycare opening soon. I am not sure what the 3rd tenant is, there is paper covering the the windows of 3 units so I am just assuming this is the case.

They have now landed the 6th floor precast floor slabs in the 8s Candela building. Should see them start forming for the 6th floor elevator/stairwell shaft walls this week. The Eve Park Condos across the street have now got the driveway and sidewalk concrete poured. Landscaper has also started planting trees around the two buildings. Given how slow condo sales are right now it could be a few years before we see buildings 3 and 4 started.

They have nearly finished installing the 7th floor structural steel cross beams on the 8s candela building. Should see the 7th floor concrete precast floor slabs being installed soon. The concrete driveway between the two Eve Park condo buildings is now poured and should be opened soon for vehicles.

Hey the rich climate change activists and social justice warrior wanna-be's need a net-zero neighbourhood to live in too. You can't expect them to call for their uber ride pick-ups from some tent city along the Thames river for their trip to the airport to vacation in the south of France for a couple of weeks.

The innovation is not the thing I have a problem with. It's that so much housing being built in London is not affordable.

Not really up to private corporations to do that. Housing is needed at all levels and it's up to governments to deal with the lower revenue levels of that need (such as the city is doing at Millbank or the other levels at Soho). Even the "affordable" rent levels, as defined, aren't really all that affordable anymore either. Indwell and the like can only do so much, and they need heavy government assistance. And if you don't like companies like Sifton building places like West 5 for the "rich", then all that does is drives up rents even higher elsewhere for lack of supply, and that also drives up the 70% of market "affordable" level as well.
