These turned out a lot better than I expected, and the interplay with light at some times almost make them look like sculptures, not residential buildings, which I imagine was the desired effect. Kudos to the architects.

That being said, I can't help but feeling that standing under them for extended periods of time would cause some people - many people - some level of anxiety. As humans we are predisposed to perceive structural rigidity after a certain age - say 5-10 - and this building appears to break all of those rules. My concious brain knows this is structurally sound, but my unconcious brain has an ever-so-slight fight or flight response even when looking at some of these pictures. Will be interesting to see if regular people - not us skyscraper nerds - notice this and write or post about it.

As nice as these towers look, I prefer the podiums of the existing bland boxes surrounding it. Back when the condo boom started in the 00s, there were all these flashy towers being built, but the podiums were terrible and did not help to make a "downtown." In the recent, there has been less emphasis on nice towers and more on nice streets. Now with hundreds of existing high rises in Mississauga, close to a hundred in this neighborhood alone, maybe adding to the street is more important than adding to the skyline.

I have mixed feelings on the podium of M City's first phase, as I enjoy how dense it is from say, Confederation, but the Burnamthorpe frontage looks messy. I guess they're seperate phases, but basically the same building with how they're designed.
The towers are okay, but feel cold and bland, especially on cloudy days.

Would Mississauga be considered the tallest suburban skyline in Canada? In North America? (Brooklyn doesn't count, as it is not considered a suburb, but an integrative part of NYC...but I guess Jersey City could count. Otherwise, what would be the tallest for USA? Sunny Isles Beach? Atlanta has three skylines, but I think it is all "Atlanta", and besides, I think Mississauga would have it beat)

^ it will never be jersey city, even if it is at the moment. jc has height limits because of the airport. the current tallest are as tall as it will ever get.

anyway, its nice to some actual architecture here. a nice contrast to the typical the canadaboring apt buildings around it. more to come i know --

In terms of strictly height/e-peen contests, I think its a toss up now between Mississauga and whatever city in BC is going gangbusters more in the Vancouver Metro. Whether thats Burnaby or Surrey or what, I can't tell you. (I guess Surrey is the bigger skyline for sure)

I think in terms of a mass of buildings that are fairly tall, it'd still go to Mississauga, but I'm not sure if that'll be the case if say, the Metro area of Vancouver continues going as crazy as it has in previous years.
