The only time I took 7 going eastbound (on the advice of my aunt who lived in Hope, she said to take 7 because of TMX construction delays on 1) I got delayed behind a farm tractor just before Aggasiz.

Other than the Glover Road Underpass, they are sure taking there sweet time to start working on this project. I recently drove East on Hwy 1 to 264th, and absolutely nothing was done.

That's the schedule, construction on the 232 interchange and highway widening is due to start this year. Likely they wanted Glover in service before partially (fully?) closing 232.

Smile A request for pictures - current, past, and future renders

As with all SSP Van' threads, there is a lot of well-researched information being posted here. Bien. Is anybody with the tech know-how willing to to show Hwy 1 before, after, and during this project?
I think that, especially for highway aficionados, visually showing the progress: the way it was (4 Lanes all the way) to the present, some of it finished, more to come, actually seeing it would be enlightening.
To anyone interested in this viusal project, thank you for your time and consideration. {From the Atlantic shores, to the cities of Central Canada, over the Shield, and the Prairies on west} this is the main road and only road, so DO IT RIGHT! > To put it in perspective, the only other two vehicular routes, which reach to Hope (with three route choices) or elsewhere, these being Hwy 7, or the now- upgraded 99 past whistler to Lillooet. Highway 1 through the Valley should, IMHO be upgraded to an "Interstate" scale, with no fewer than 6 or 8 lanes, depending on area usage.

My favourite scene from the South Park movie is when they land in Canada and ask how to get to Ottawa. "Follow the road!", says the Canadian. "Which Road?" asks Cartman. The reply: "This is Canada. We only have one road".

To Americans used to the Interstate highway system, it must really seem this way!

I'm a little lost with this HWY#1 road widening.

Are they turning this from a 2 lane road to 4 lanes with an HOV or just 3 lanes where the extra lane will be just for HOV. I pray to God it's not the latter but this is BC.

They're adding an HOV lane, where it currently is 2 lanes will become 3 and where it currently is 3 lanes will become 4.

Along with a wider than usual shoulder that will double as a bus lane (I believe this is only east of 232nd?)

Overall it’s a half decent project, the designs of the to be rebuilt interchanges are good (especially 264th and highway 11) and having all the low clearance issues removed is good.

I give it a 7/10.

For reference the #1 rebuild from 200th to the tunnel was a 9/10, the SFPR was a 5/10, and the severely downgraded highway 99 tunnel project is a 3/10.

There is no plan to replace the low 192nd(Harvie Rd) Overpass. It is not part of this phase, nor any phase before. But like I said before, I think that is delayed because of Surrey.

Maybe rerate the SFPR after they finish the Patullo Bridge Project and realign the roadway under the new Yale Road Overpass and (hopefully) get the speed limit up to a conistent 80km/hr through that stretch.

The newly built Sunbury interchange is decent, but they *had* to leave one light on the 91 Connector road... still, a huge improvement for accessing the AFB than that joke of an unprotected left turn lane from before.

The heaving in the SFPR roadway is a big negative, but I'm not sure how much more money you'd have to throw at that to make a level roadway on a bog.

The Sunbury project was definitely a huge improvement and the Yale Road overpass and direct Pattullo Bridge south to SFPR west connection will also be huge improvements, but they added a light for the new truck pullout instead of making it ramps, and there is still that one odd railway crossing, so overall I will say it has become a 6/10 (7/10 west of the train crossing once the Pattuo elements are completed, but still 5/10 east of the railway crossing.
