There are 5 lights on the side of each vehicle on the Mark V trains, rather than the usual 2:
One is an amber light indicating equipment faults or the silent passenger alarm strip.
One is a red light indicating if any doors on the vehicle are open.
Then there are 3 red lights, one for each set of doors to assist with debugging door problems (these ones are new).

Yes the rear markers are illuminated but the picture gives a great shot of the new style front markers.

Yes - so using this evidence SkyTrain is effectively an Alstom METROPOLIS product; its time under the name Innovia Metro has come to an end.

As a regular rider of the 25, they should really have the sign saying the destination on the top big letters instead of on the bottom.

I've always liked the design of the SkyTrain cars post MK1. They look futuristic without looking like a gagetbahn. Stylish but crisp.

For these new trains what is the total length of the trains themselves and are they longer than 2 MK3 trains coupled together?

About 85m

2 Mk3? You mean MkII? Mk3 is 4 cars... and 2 of them is 8 car trains, so around 136m...

How many seta of Mark V trains are there? I know we have one. In the loading video I see 6021, while the train that arrived is 6011. so I am confused. it seems there are more then 1 train built at least 2 and if by the numbers at least 5 trains are already built.

So does anyone know how many MarK V train-sets have been built?

I don't think there's a 6021.

This should be how the trains are numbered:
Train1: 6011-6022-6023-6024-6025
Train2: 6031-6042-6043-6044-6045
Train3: 6051-6062-6063-6064-6065
...
Train41: 6811-6822-6823-6824-6825

So in the computer, it will see the trains as something similar to MkI and MkII trains
Train1: 601-602
Train2: 603-604
Train3: 605-606
...
Train41: 681-682

To make it clear, each car is individually numbered and only one train has arrived.

Pics from Daily Hive show 6011 being unloaded (same as pics above) - so maybe the train in the video at Kingston isn't the one sent.

I am really not getting this logic at all. Why not just use consecutive numbers the same way as the Mark IV trains?

The control system originally only ever used married pairs which were handled with a XXX-XXX format number, simply combining the two car numbers.
The 4 car Mark III trains were numbered sequentially with the train number being made from the two end cars, this wasn’t an issue as only 21 trains (84 cars) were ordered. If this was also followed for the Mark V only 19 trains could be numbered in the 600s while currently there are 46 trains on order. This way with four digit car numbers and the last digit being dropped to form the XXX-XXX train number 49 trains can be numbered in the 600s.

And the supplier hasn't been able to update the software to handle longer numbers at any time over the past 40 years?

This reminds me of ICBC's increasingly convoluted numbering and sequencing scheme for license plates which I've always assumed has something do to with the difficulty of upgrading their IBM mainframe systems to handle longer numbers.

I assume they have a separate computer system which manages the maintenance requirements and records. Presumably it doesn't have the same numbering limitation as the train control system does.
