Tough to say if PD will add anything else from YOW this summer. If you look at the pattern of route launches from YYZ, it seems YOW is getting those in the same order but 6-12 months later. That being said, if the pattern holds, YYJ will be next from YOW but a July launch is late for a summer seasonal. They might just skip that and wait for their winter announcement to more Florida, SFO, LAX, and/or LAS.

Network/route planning and fleet optimization is a giant factor that Porter has to consider (and often we armchair analysts forget) but something like 4x weekly LAS and 3x weekly RSW or TPA next winter would be great. Initially, Porter seemed to want to go daily on all city-pairs, but with their new routes from YUL to SFO & LAX, they are bucking the trend.

I do agree it is late for YYJ - but that is likely on the horizon in S25 or S26.

Yeah probably what's there now will be it for summer, unless they add a 2nd YWG or 3rd YVR or something with the Dash 8 slack in the fleet.

Today’s departure count: 75, including 9 sun flights

Today’s cancellation count (so far): 1

Unless LAS can be year round? It was something like 65k O&D when WS did it if I remember correctly. Then when they pulled out, it plummeted to around 40k, again if I remember correctly. Direct stimulates demand and helps prevents leakage to YUL.

I think it's a good question. Flair started it in early October and it performed pretty well for them: 1614 pax/2262 seats = 71.35% seat factor.

Porter would have the added advantage of feed from the east and my guess is Flair is a no-go for some people, especially business travelers.

Yup and I'm one of those no-go people. Not to mention the 2x weekly frequency and the negative publicity aren't helping.

A few more retro YOW pics:

Circa 1990 (can tell by the Saturn Car Company advertising in the terminal):

Today’s departure count: 69, including 9 sun flights

Today’s cancellation count (so far): 8

8 flights last night ended up departing after 2200 thanks to the weather.

While you'd never know it, so far more than 15 cm of snow has been recorded at the airport.

I took a snapshot of the Porter schedule for early July. The minimum connection time in YOW as per Porter is: 35 minutes for domestic, 50 minutes for Canada to US, and 55 minutes from US to Canada.

Porter schedule departing from YOW on July 9, 2024:

Porter schedule arriving into YOW on July 11, 2024:

Are there any photos of the terminal building following the 1959 supersonic explosion that delayed opening of the terminal until 1960?

Just noticed AF is back down to 5x weekly from September 1st through the end of October - mostly the current schedule of days x35, but a couple weeks are days x25.

Still loaded daily on the 777-200 from October 29th but we shall see if that sticks...

Apple Maps has updated imagery around the airport showing the Porter hangar construction and new taxiway. Here’s a side-by-side with Google’s imagery.

Funny... I was doing this exact same comparison yesterday, but between Google and Bing, which seems to have the identical imagery source as Apple

When it drops to 5x weekly, is it still 359, before the late October 772 switchover? That alone would still represent a substantial increase in capacity.

I’d fully expect the 6 weeks after the Xmas/New Year’s rush to be 5x weekly. For a couple of weeks in January 2024 it was even 3x weekly.

Still the 359 until October 29. So still about 1000 seats weekly extra over last summer on the 332.

So just one more AF327/328 on the B789 until it flips to the A359 on Sunday.

Will this be the first A350 to visit YOW? Or was there a diversion recently from the Middle East on the A350?
