ESAP has a ton of extra capacity that the feds are trying to sell to the private sector. I'm guessing at one point they were in talk with Trinity (or the previous owners) to supply the site.

If they had a deal with Trinity, I hope that contract holds with any new owner.

While at Tunney's I noticed that the stacks are actually reflective, the lack of sun lately doesn't help show it, but it is definitely somewhat reflective.

Well well well...the chimneys are getting that chrome look after all! Some kind of reflective coating has definitely been applied since my last capture of the Tunney's plant.

The two new towers at Scott and McCrae look bad. Both have very similar height, mass and materials. even very similar bulky podiums. From up close, one's clearly better then the other, but from a distance, they are equally bad. Metropole remains dominant in height and style.

Very true. Metropole is a gem from the distance. Up close I find it looks a wee bit ticky tacky but nothing criminal.

I would like to think in another 10 years after the curling club happens and whatever else is in the area takes shape, Story of Scott 1 and 2 will disappear to a certain extent.

At the end of the day we are still bringing much needed density to key areas. I know we are pretty rough on ole Ottawa here but we do have a few gems in the pipeline under construction right now. I think the second tower of these two should be like.. the MINIMUM base line for new builds though.

PS.. the Sens stink

It reminds me of 'Lepine Architecture School' over by Kanata Centrum where the buildings got more ornate sequentially. The new tower looks like Roderick's evolution from designing in Minecraft to designing in Sketchup.

Is it possible that the chimney was peeled? The worlds largest and most satisfying plastic peel-off strips?

Kind of sad to see it go. It blended in quite well. I'm still skeptical about the shroud proposed for the new Cliff Plant.

Oh God, that beige/bronze shroud is going to look bad.

Was this designed by someone from New Mexico who's never seen our limestone cliffs?

Renders made it look like some copper chain or fencing, that diorama makes it look like a brown tablecloth lol.

Also, a little bit of a stretch with that blue water colour haha

It's an interesting design, maybe we should be encouraging more swings and less safe/boring/easy designs.

When did this forum turn into so many whiners and nitpickers?
