Will be making a land Assembly thread over on Urban Toronto once I get the go ahead from the mods.

Yes, but "completes" is the key thing.

I have more confidence in him than others, though I'm wary. But I once had confidence in Harry, and I also criticized Darko for not doing anything except assemble properties. I ended up being wrong on both counts.

So as there is no more general threads on Urban Toronto for Hamilton as of yet, I figured I'd post this here. I don't know if this was already posted here, but I didn't see it: https://twitter.com/JoeyColeman/status/1752777792024904101?t=BTsk59hftxjQGGTVopq9Yg&s=19

Exciting news for.those of us who like to follow developments from start to finish. This hopefully means that at least in the future all the documents for these developments remain public and accessible so we don't have to ask each other if we still have site plans or architecture docs from 3 years ago.

We'll see about records or not. Toronto deletes their applications from their site once completed.

At the very least we should hopefully be able to easily access plans for any application now as soon as it's submitted.

The latest CoA agenda has not one, but Two new McDonalds locations in the city on the agenda. Is McDs on a major expansion or something?

one location at Upper James and White Church in Mount Hope:

And another at Upper Ottawa and Stone Church, behind the Rexall:

If there building a McDonald's at Upper Ottawa and Stone Church then the current McDonald's at Mohawk and Upper Gage days must be counting down.

https://www.ontario.ca/page/tracking-housing-supply-progress

Final numbers are in for Ontario's housing target for 2023 - Hamilton hit 120% of their housing target with 4,142 unit completed. The City should be due for a cheque for about $15,000,000 or so as a result.

Comparatively, Burlington unsurprisingly did not hit their target, achieving only 27% of their goal. They will not be getting a cent out of the fund.

Not only did Burlington not achieve their target, but they were the third-worst performing municipality in Ontario behind Halton Hills and New Tecumseth.

re: McDonald's, I wonder if they're on a re-vamping spree. The one at the Delta just got renovated, and it was looking a bit tired.

This new location may also impact the one at Stone Church and Upper RHVP; it's only a couple of kms west of the existing site.

Maybe McDs sees market growth potential with all the things planned/under construction around the south-east Mountain? (residential and commercial/industrial)

That unit a long time ago was the highest grossing unit in Canada, way before the drive thru and McPizza. I would be surprised to see them pull that location. On the other hand when 1/4 of your immediate market is a landfill site, one has to wonder what the market planners for McDs are thinking, much better to make the jump to Rymal

Re:McDonald's
I wonder if it has anything to do with the multitude of Burger King locations that have opened or are going to open.

A lot of stuff in flight, but it has been a small pause since the last site kicked off. What do you guys think is the next building to break ground in downtown-ish Hamilton?

325 James St N. Spring/Summer 2024 is when the Chelsea will be done on Augusta and Core Urban will likely then pivot full-force into this property at Barton/James. High value property being so close to Go, especially with the rumoured 30 minute service on the horizon.

I think the next big start will be either Apex or 166 Main (only the first tower). There are a bunch more likely coming in the next 12-24 months as well, but it's tougher to ascertain.

Could see 186 Hunter St E. & 71 Rebecca St starting this year. Not sure what the timeline is for 64 Main St E. but hopefully construction begins within the next year or two.

Unfortunately the city's development website is down, but I don't recall 186 Hunter having it's site plan filed yet.

Now that the King William towers and McMaster's grad residence are reaching exterior completion simultaneously, how would you rank Hamilton's high-rises architecturally?

My top three:
1. William Thomas
2. Mac grad res
3. Marquee

Honourable mentions
Pigott
King William Urban Rentals
KiWi (if that counts as high rise)

There's a million candidates for dishonourable mentions among the 60s and 70s era towers around town, but among the current generation of newer buildings, I'd rank Platinum, 140 Main W and Walnut as the top tall duds.
