A project I am involved with, we had to pivot from mass timber to steel/concrete when an adjacent proposed wet lab building was merged into it.

I'm curious about the eventual impact of this hospital on the adjacent neighbourhood. Hopefully the influx of new medical staff and employees creates a pull for new business and housing as well as stronger support for existing business with this critical mass.
I can imagine new services being required in the immediate vicinity, like perhaps a grocery store that's open later.

The rental towers and office/retail project that Strand will be building next to the hospital on Prior Street has commercial space on the main floor. as well as office space in the upper floors of the podium. Initially it included a grocery store, at rezoning, but the DP replaced that with restaurant space, so there must have been some reconsideration of the viability of a grocery store at this stage.
Can't see it on the webcam yet but all the concrete surfaces are getting the plastic lining treatment so I guess it will happen on this side soon as well.

They've clad some of the bottom floor in the webcam image. It's the very dark brown panels, going over the mineral insulation layer on vertical battens.

Work Description:
New St Paul's DP-2 CSRC building sub area 1b
Following rezoning, development of: 14-storey institutional buindling including a 37 space child care and commercial at ground level over three levels of underground parking/loading accessed from Gore St
Currently, construction crews are gearing up for the addition of the 11th floor, marking the structure’s full height. The project is set to reach the ‘topping off’ milestone this summer when the final concrete is poured on the roof of the new hospital. Then work begins on the exterior of the building, which is expected to continue into 2025.
Thanks - they're a bit further on already. The western 9 storey part of the building has a completed roof, and they already have part of the 11th floor closed in on the eastern block. That will presumably have a fair amount of reinforcement in the roof slab, as it's where the helipad will be.
Project Co will Design the Facility to accommodate, without requiring modification of the primary structure, a Future Heliport with a helicopter static load of 8618 kg times a dynamic factor of 1.5 for landing impact.
