Definitely. No lights on the blank western wall I suppose?

Maybe the Claridge logo is lit up at night? From hoggytime on Skyrise (aka Harley613, aka Harley Davis).

Time to repaint that Canadian flag on that hotel. Too many dang sunsets have melted it.

That hasn't been a hotel in what...six, seven years?

I guess so, I never go downtown anymore

Man I got old quick.

Accent lighting is definitely a nice added touch - as long as it is properly shaded so that it doesn't shine into windows all night.

Fraser · #**671** Posted **Feb 28, 2024, 6:45 PM**

I hate the addition of the Claridge logo. So tacky.

Agreed.

Same with the Icon.

Harley613 · #**673** Posted **Feb 28, 2024, 7:21 PM**

They put the logo on the — end of the building that faces out from the skyline, so they actually KNOW these walls are the most visible on the project.

we've looked into getting rid of it at icon, apparently the legal agreement for it (that claridge wrote with themselves) is iron clad.

At least the SOHO logos are kind of cool

DTcrawler · #**676** Posted **Feb 29, 2024, 7:23 AM**

I like the accent lighting, I think Ottawa as a whole needs a lot more of it, especially on commercial buildings. I'm actually pretty shocked Claridge's bean counters allowed it through the value engineering stage.

The number of blank west-facing walls in Harley's pic is staggering and quite unfortunate.

How dare a design element take attention away from the glory that is CHARCWHITE! LOL!

That Appletree site has to be redeveloped soon, right? It’s the only site left in that shot. It could hold a nice, slim, 31-storey.

In general though, we need we need some varied height in scattered in there, particularly in the background.

Harley613 · #**679** Posted **Mar 5, 2024, 2:53 PM**

Why 31 stories? Why not 40, 50, 60? Moon and Releve bring cachet to this strip, there are no height restrictions, it's a single tower sized lot...

I'm surprised that nobody is yet referring to this as the moonlight
