It will be years before Shake Shack opens in Vancouver. They'll do several locations in GTA first.. then maybe Calgary and Edmonton.. then Vancouver.

Similar to Chick Fil A.. 10 locations in Ontario now, with locations opening in Alberta.

Seems logical - Vancouver seems to be always last given the low population vs high cost math conundrum. Also it doesn't seem like these hyped up chains do that well here (meanwhile I advocate for Eataly to come haha).

Will be interesting to even see when/if Chic-fil-a makes there way here and where it will land - I would make the bold assumption that langley/surrey/tri-cities would be the first place but could be wrong. Bellingham is supposed to have a location coming soon.

I always envisioned Shake Shack going in that new Bentall tower, close to the tourists and the conventioners. I don't know if there is space in it for restaurants or not.

I just think the Park Royal location could be done within a year, Oarkdige is many years off still. Wasn't the first Five Guys in Park Royal?

I'm not sure about Chick-Fil-A, the gay are very much against it, so suburbs like Langley make sense.

the Strawberry Hill Jollibee is opening next week. The Hub location always has a lineup and people walking with their bags to the Skytrain. A Guildford area location seems more of an area where the Filipino community is based.

Chipotle at the City of Lougheed had people dining inside, looks like it is now open.

On the level above there will be a Korean BBQ spot opening in the summer they say. Has its signage up already.

Funnily enough, right after their staff voted to unionize. Classy.

Browns Crafthouse closure in Vancouver leads to angry ex-employees
Nikitha Martins

“It’s frustrating when you have to fight for the bare minimum of your rights,” Sergei Campos, a bartender and supervisor at the eatery, told Daily Hive.

Five weeks after Browns Crafthouse Seymour got notice that hourly employees joined United Food & Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 247, Campos said staff were blindsided by news that the restaurant would be shutting down.

Over two dozen employees were handed their two weeks’ notice the same day Browns Crafthouse had organized a day to sit with the union to bargain....

Big happenings and one of Vancouver's longest running restaurants:

Massive change coming to one of Vancouver's legendary restaurants
After 40 years, the chef-owner is passing the torch to someone new - but also very familiar
Lindsay William-Ross

After 40 years, there is something big on the horizon for one of Vancouver's legendary fine dining restaurants.

Le Crocodile, opened in 1983 at Burrard and Smithe, by Chef Michel Jacob, is changing hands this spring, and will be run by a culinary legend in his own right, Chef Rob Feenie. The white tablecloth French restaurant is known for its elegant setting and refined French fare with a West Coast sensibility.

Jacob announced his retirement and the news of Feenie taking the reins on Thursday (Feb. 8).

“It is time for a well-deserved retirement,” said Jacob in a media release.

Jacob will wind up his remarkable tenure on April 30, when Le Crocodile will briefly close before re-opening in May as Le Crocodile by Rob Feenie.....

Egg Bomb is opening a second location in the City of Lougheed, their original one is in Langley, it looks pretty popular there, and should do well at COL. The new Chipotle was packed on Friday with a long lineup around 7 pm. The rest of the mall closed down at 7 pm, strange for a Friday.

Storeys are reporting that Bomber Brewing is also being offered for sale.

They say that Cinema Public House has already been sold, to new operators with no previous experience in running a bar.

"Pending sale agreements have been secured for the Three Brits Public House, Brass Fish Tavern, Hello Goodbye, and Granville Room. Details regarding those pending sale agreements were not provided."

Donnelly would remain as owners of six bars in Vancouver and two in Toronto.
