There is some new chatter about the former Fabricville space at Parkway Mall. Starting in February it’s leased to another tenant. Original rumours was Hart possibly expanding into this space next to them. However this morning another person commented on Retail Talk and Share NB group that it’s Denny’s. So I guess we will soon see which is true. Or if neither is true and it’s a completely different tenant.

Denny's and Cora in the same mall?

The breakfast wars have officially begun.

Aren't there two other breakfast chains in that same MacAllister/Eastpoint area? All we need is an IHOP and we'd have a full house.

Vintage Pursuit is now open at their new location beside The Source, (former Charmed Aroma). A big upgrade from their small shop that was by the food court.

Looks like a new eyewear place is opening at Lansdowne Plaza in the north end. ENTREPÕT DE LA LUNETTE, (Optical Warehouse). Work is happening in the former Money Mart location and company vans are parked out back by a construction dumpster.

Posted this over on the Moncton Retail Thread, sharing it here too since SJ has a store as well in McAllister Place. Hopefully the SJ store rebrands, not close.

Thinking about The Source just makes me miss Radio Shack, where you could actually buy parts and electronic hobbyist things for building, tinkering, and repairing.

Hard to see how the McAllister store would remain. It's basically across the street from BestBuy.

I would think a lot of what they sell would be a good fit for older homes/flats like are found on the south-central peninsula. At first glance I have to think that this location is a long way away from their target market.

Still, a customer being able to drive their car/suv/van right up to the door to lug home your purchase may well be a plus .

This new location will also have a new thrift department and they will start selling new furniture, décor, mattresses and appliances.

This was posted over on Retail Talk & Share NB Facebook group.

Quote:
"I received information from a source at Christmas Discounters. Apparently the former Fabricville space doesn't have a new tenant lined up like rumors have suggested. Only discussions have happened, nothing signed a lease. When the source handed in the keys to Parkway Mall management, management asked them to come back next year if the space is still available. Management also asked about setting up a permanent store there. Currently the company doesn't have the infrastructure ready and set up to open more permanent stores right now. However the source is hoping the space will be available for a couple more years until they are ready and able to open more permanent stores. Because the company would for sure love to have 3/4 of the space for a new permanent Saint John Discounters store".

Signage is being installed for the new Hub Burritos / FreakShakes and Palettas (Ice cream & Gelato), opening soon at 533 Westmorland Road. Where Saint John Bakery used to be. Photo is from Retail Talk & Share NB Facebook group.

I used to work there (Radio Shack) in years past. Now if you want electronic components, even basic ones at times, you have to order online.

It's too bad most hobbyist items (3D printers, electronics, Raspberry Pi, etc) have to be ordered online as no local store bothers to carry such things.

The Dairy Queen/Orange Julius location inside McAllister Place is undergoing a renovation right now.
