Some of it is Edmonton’s fault
Some of it is the provinces fault
Some of it is gods fault for geographically placing Edmonton where it is, and placing Calgary where it is

Minor examples of a very hereditary ball and chain from 1979 onwards.

Comparing Edmonton and Calgary, on a BROAD basis, I would call Edmonton the spender and Calgary the saver.

Again, on a BROAD basis, it is my sense that Calgarians invest while Edmontonians spend. Perhaps it's the overall much higher salaries in Calgary that makes a difference, the freedom to invest and grow one's savings.

Yes, I can't wait for the "yeah whatabout..." responses, but from my personal experience as an observer of friends and colleagues in both cities, it's such a clearcut distinction that it stunned me that you suggested otherwise.

This response threw me for a loop. To me, the austerity and thriftiness of Edmontonians versus the cowboy spendthrift attitudes of Calgarians is one of the defining hallmarks of the two cities.

I am continually reminded that the diversity in perspectives is endless, that for every deeply held belief I have, there is someone out there who believes just as fervently in the opposite.

"The townhouse units would surround the building on the western, northern, and eastern sides, while the southern side of the building will potentially be home to a greenspace and mural art. "

Those are going to be some bad townhomes and bad public realm. Guess not bad if you want a cheap townhome (or a noisy one).

"The proposal is also seeking to include commercial uses on the ground floor, on the eastern and western sides of the building, which the City says would require an amendment to the SARP."

Was a "no commercial here" in place due to appease the owner of the mall / other commercial properties?

37519 Apartment Starts for Toronto? So that's what all the 40 story towers coming up in downtown Toronto were when we visited last year.
