Berlin Hotel High-Rise Project Set to Commence Within a Few Months

Quote:
There will soon be a new skyscraper in Berlin, intended to create a new “gate to Berlin.” If completed, the Estrel Tower could become the tallest in the German capital, with its groundbreaking scheduled for fall 2020.

The existing Estrel Hotel at the Neukölln Shipping Channel (“Neuköllner Schifffahrtskanal”) is one of Germany’s largest and most popular. Being the biggest and having the highest turnover of them all is not enough anymore though as it aims to become the city’s tallest building by 2025 at 175 meters.

Does anyone here know if the Estrel Tower will actually have an observation deck open to the public because I do know that there will be a restaurant on the top floors.

I'm not German, nor am I familiar with this project, but I got curious about it, so I did a quick Google search in German and found some information stating that there will be an observation deck.

This article from the Spiegel says:
Quote:
There will be an observation deck on the roof of the Estrel Tower, which will be accessible free of charge. (Nov 28, 2021)
A user in this german forum also mentions an observation deck:
Quote:
Small update on the current building height.

The Estrel Tower is currently at a height of almost exactly 130m, and is on the 35th floor.

This means it is now in second place in Berlin In Germany, the Estrel Tower has currently made it into the top 40, and is in 38th place.

Up to the 42nd floor, the floor height will be the same, around 3.71m. From the 43rd floor (where the observation deck is being built) there will be two floors with double height, and a normal one at the top. (July 1, 2024)

Looks like it's almost done! Nice addition for Berlin, and I see that it's Teutonic speaking fellow city (Vienna) is coming up with a skyline of it's own, too!
