I wish they added some interior bowl pics, I must say though this is probably exactly what chipman wished he built. Same size arena, but expandable. With more suites and club spaces.

Temp home for the Jets while they raise the roof on CLC in 2045?

Interesting that U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis was built in 2 1/2 anti-hero years. In fact 6 weeks early.

I use it as an example as it has a similar glass design as is proposed for Olympic Stadium.

So I don't get why it must take 4 anti-hero years to remove and replace the wet diaper hanging above Olympic Stadium.

I don't believe it would cost 2 billion anti-hero dollars to demolish Olympic Stadium and equally I don't believe it will take 4 years to replace the roof.

Sadly it's a deliberate campaign of misinformation by the Lego government. I no longer trust anything they say.

Three things that are Factual.

TS will perform at the Super Bowl Half time.

CBS will use a Split screen and a special Swift camera so viewers won't lose sight of Swift at any point during the broadcast.

Olympic Stadium will replace the 56,000 current seats with seats made of solid glass.

It is the first time in history seats made entirely of glass have been used in any Stadium outside North Korea.

The seats will be entirely made of glass to match the glass roof. A glass roof needs matching glass seats.

A coloured dye will be in the glass seats, lower level will be red seats, upper deck will be blue seats to match the colours of the Montreal Canadiens in the event an Outdoor hockey game breaks out before the roof opening is sealed next year.

The glass seats will last 25 years about half as long as the matching glass roof.

So as to prevent breakage of these glass seats, the glass seats will be of variable width / strength to match the declared weight of season ticket holders.

enjoy the game

this roof isn't about bringing the Expos back and don't compare Olympic Stadium with other stadiums, each construction project had its own uniqueness:

Sunk cost fallacy comes to mind when talking about renovating the big-O.

I see there is a new Petition from a bleeding heart named Clifford against the new Roof that is gaining support, however I don't understand why people want the Stadium demolished.

It will cost as much or more to demolish it than to renovate it so I don't understand their point.

Once the construction contracts have been signed there is no turning back, unless the Cabinet has released this proposal just to see the amount of public backlash.

This Clifford bleeding heart makes no mention of the enormous cost of demolishing this Stadium, all he does is complain about homelessness and the economy, makes no mention of the economic benefit of investing in infrastructure.

Wouldn't be surprised if this petition is AI, show me the actual signatures of these people supporting this, I like the old fashioned way of pen and paper, I want to see actual signatures, not computer generated support, how do we know these numbers are actual supporters ?

https://www.change.org/p/reject-the-...of-in-montreal

well if this Clifford bleeding heart is doing this petition then I'll match his efforts doing a petition to bring TS to Montreal.

seems easy to do petitions, there's even one against an aluminum tower in Tahiti :

https://www.change.org/p/halt-the-co...ct-unique-reef

If this bleeding heart needs to bitch about a roof on a stadium then I will do a petition to move the LA Kings to Quebec City and a separate petition advocating the Rhino Party get Official Party status in Ottawa.

So 3 petitions coming up

Why sink a billion or two into renovations that will only delay the end result. This stadium will be demolished at some stage.

Rip the band aid off now instead of slowly nipping at it.

What I am hoping to see happen:

The roof design looks right, it fits the structure, I haven't seen anybody yet complaining about that.

I think it will create a sense of anticipation before reopening and a sense of goodwill.

People will visit in the first two years just to see it and it will have that new car smell. After that, I can see because of the goodwill and positive image change that people will find more uses for the structure especially as it will now be year round

And if by that time maybe ten years from now (which isn't a long time) if the Als and CFM haven't done anything with their situations you may see the push to do the big inside renovation.

You could say that about any structure. You could say that about the Rose Bowl or Berlin Stadion which are many decades older.

I don't think anyone believes the demolition estimate. The estimate seems to include replacing the office tower, parking garage, aquatic centre and biodome, assuming that you cannot demolish the stadium without demolishing the others.

At some point that will likely be true - post-tensioned structures don't last forever. But not today.

The plan today I just hope the internal renovations are alright.

I don't get the point of the change.org 'petition' to get the roof project 'cancelled', is the petitioner really trying to get the Quebec Government to cancel these construction contracts ? I'm sure the petitioner got a whole bunch of homeless people and homeless / low income housing advocates to electronically sign his petition. Even the media is covering this. So since people are in the mood of using change.org to voice their opinions, I am doing a separate petition to Save Olympic Stadium. I would appreciate your support in signing my petition, it is a petition to the Quebec cabinet.

Please Sign / Support my petition to save Olympic Stadium from the wrecking ball. I believe sports infrastructure should be maintained, even if you don't like TS I ask you to see the big picture. Let's not allow bleeding hearts / social advocates dictate whether Montreal should have a stadium or not. Please share and let media know.

Even beyond your troubling and all-consuming obsession with Taylor Swift, the wording for your "petition" is utterly insane:
Quote:
"Remove Wet Diaper off Olympic Stadium, bring Taylor Swift to Montreal in 2025"
Quote:
"As widely reported in the news, Taylor Swift skipped Montreal cause she refuses to perform under a roof that resembles a wet diaper."
Quote:
"Don't ask Taylor Swift to perform in Montreal under a roof resembling a Wet Diaper."
Do you seriously expect any rational individual to want to be associated with that? Please get help.

Upgrades coming to the Corel Centre. They'll take the time they have left with the 1996 building to test out concepts that may be desirable in a new building:

Quote:
GARRIOCH: Senators' VP Chris Phillips says club is studying upgrades to Canadian Tire Centre

--SNIP--

“This building is 28-years-old, our fan base is supporting us and we have to do our best to support them to give them the best experience possible,” Phillips, who suited up for a franchise record 1,179 games with Ottawa in his NHL career, told Postmedia in an interview Thursday.

“That requires some upgrades, some changes and it also gives us the opportunity to test some things and see what our market thinks of some potential things that we would consider for a new arena.”

As a result, the Senators have been having a lot of internal discussions about ways they can make the arena a better place. In the last couple of months, they’ve improved the rink just by installing LED lighting and last summer they put in a new message board above the 100-level.

They’ve been throwing out ideas for changes they’ll make in the off-season and Phillips noted that these are some they are looking at. That doesn’t mean they’ll all happen right away, but they are getting consideration:
  • The Senators are looking at changing some of the seats in the building because they’re the original ones that were in the building when it opened in Jan., 1996. “We’re looking at upgrading some of those,” Phillips said.
  • The club installed a grab-and-go drink market on the 200-level to start this season and the Senators are likely to do a similar style for fans in the 100-level. It’s a popular option because there’s usually no lineups and fans can get through it fairly quickly. “It’s been very well received,” Phillips said.
  • He also noted they’re also studying a grab-and-go option with hot food on the 200 level.
  • Club CIBC, which was rebranded after the Senators signed a sponsorship agreement with the bank in the fall, will also get a new look in the summer. Phillips said they want to make it feel like more people are welcome there by trying to integrate as part of the concourse on the 100 level. “It’s inclusive for all and we want try to open that up a little bit,” he added. “We want to make that more of an enjoyable experience.”
  • The Senators may bring back an ice level bar behind the club’s home goal at the 100 level. They used to a post-game show and called it the Lexus Lounge. It may not happen next season, but Phillips noted the organization is trying to determine a way to better use that space because of its proximity to the rink.
  • The club will likely expand the Brookstreet Lounge section to include more seating. It’s located right behind the penalty box and there’s a dinner at Lower Gate 2 before the game. “We’re looking to add to the fan experience, add some seats and there’s already great food offerings,” Phillips said.

The club needs to do these things because there’s no telling how long they’ll be here and a move won’t happen before the 2020-30 campaign so the Senators can’t just ignore the building in the meantime.

That reminds of a conversation at work earlier this week when this senior manager mentioned a new location our company is building. I asked where and she said "Across the highway from the Palladium" lol.
