and then there are angles/lighting where this looks like it should be in West Campus... this building makes me both thrilled and nervous in equal measure.

Do y'all think they did the orange because of UT? Seriously asking.

Honestly at least to my perspective, it is not really UT color burnt orange and in fact the other night I was walking by on Red River, looks more like a brass with a shimmer in the light. That is specifically the portion facing Red River. It's orangish but I think it's a bit different than UT's color.

Agreed -- Compared to the orange on Mopacs great photos from earlier, I'd say the real life color is slightly darker, but still similar.

Insider info from local power brokers:

The last two decades of highrise construction has been an epic troll job by Rice University, and the Houston power brokers.

First the blue Frost Tower that looks like an owl. Then dozens and dozens of other blue towers dotting the skyline. You know Rice's color? BLUE!

Well UT has had enough. That's why they're secretly financing Austin's supertall. Only catch? The tallest building in Austin will be burnt orange!

Take that, Rice!!!!

The owl I get; but the color blue? Perhaps the most popular color for glass in the last several Decades....throughout the world?

I am Really Impressed with the Orange on Waterline. And the design in general. This tower is impressive!

As unfortunate in reality; That is likely a very true statement. Especially for those here in the forum who have expressed their distain of the plethora of blue in DT Austin.

I personally don't have a problem with how our skyline coloration has turned out. I'd rather have blue over brown or tan any day (having some is okay but not dominant.) What I'd like to see is some true dark green towers.

Lol yea its greenish but could have been greener.

Also I'm loving the Paseo yellow/gold construction barrier. That looks nice shimmering in the late afternoon. Have that color on a highrise here.

This one has some interesting elements. From the 40’ tall angled columns to those orange fins and it’s nice how close it all is to Waller Creek. I recall the hotel brand being mentioned, but don’t remember is it AndBeyond?

Edit: hotel brand is 1 Hotel
