Great news! Now they just have to close off the Lesperance rd intersection and eventually put a new interchange at Manning rd.

Finally. This was needed even without the battery plant.

I hope they also improve the other roads in the area. I work in the industrial park between EC Row and Lauzon. Thanks to the battery plant, there is only one road into or out of the area now that they shut down Anchor drive between Banwell and Green Shield and traffic is already getting pretty bad. When the plant starts operating it's going to get brutal.

Last week someone lost control and hit a power pole and brought the wires down on the road. They sent us home early because we had no power but we couldn't leave because the only road was blocked. Even after they cleared the road it still took about an hour for the gridlock to clear.

The intersection of Lauzon and Twin Oaks is also dangerous. If you're coming from EC Row East you immediately have to cut across two lanes of traffic with a 70km/h speed limit to get into the left turn lane. I've seen multiple accidents there and I now avoid it during rush hour.

The Anchor drive closure caused alot of problems. A bus route had to be eliminated in that area which is home to a medical centre/clinic and obviously many jobs. Not sure if it's been rerouted yet.

I know Banwell will be realigned and widened by the county (up to the city limits). https://www.countyofessex.ca/en/resident-services/county-road-42-reconstruction.aspx

Lauzon parkway really needs to be extended to the 401 along with the Twin Oaks intersection improved. Both interchanges have been talked about and studied for over a decade

A major office and condo complex could be coming to Walkerville in the near future. Radical Capital Management and the Hengsperger family are working on plans for a tower of several stories at 1880 Assumption street.

^ I’m sure that it would go over well, given the neighbourhood is on a huge upswing with so much planned new development and proposals. Hopefully the design they choose melds nicely into the neighbourhood.

Anyone know what is being started on the southwest corner of Walker and Provincial ?
CGI construction has been site prepping for a couple weeks but their website mentions nothing.

I’m curious as well, I just drove past there yesterday and saw that the land was being cleared. It’s certainly an oddly positioned piece of property.

The region has great waterfront I’ve always thought Windsor has done the best job with its share. Cool to see the museum / legacy beacon, some awesome views.

I seem to recall that the other piece of land across from this one on the other side of Provincial recently sold after being on the market for years.

^Interesting. This appears to be well located, next to a hospital and not too far from University and downtown. One thing though, it is strange to see more parking than units on an application as where I live they have been eliminated and many buildings don't have any parking.

Solid development while I can imagine the views will be spectacular with Peach Island and the open waters of Lake St Clair. I was wondering how well mid rises will fit in the mostly single family home community. However I’m not familiar with this part of Windsor & there are high rises just down Riverside so it seems like a good fit.

Interesting piece of note the undeveloped land has the traits of ribbon farms is that a coincidence or does anyone know if those plots date back to a time when ribbon farms were still a thing.

Fantastic to see more midrise development like this in Windsor. However, I think that more of this development should have midrise blocks compared to what the current plan is. I would personally prefer to see at least four or five more towers in either the southern or western sections of this development. Windsor has limited land available within its municipal boundary and should be trying to maximize density.

As for the shape of the properties, yes, this is how the farms were laid out in areas originally settled/colonized by the French, who preferred long and narrow farming plots in comparison to the more square plots that the British used. Windsor was originally colonized by the French before the British took over, and you can still see lots of traces of French today with a huge French-descent population in addition to a large portion of street names being French.

The bridge deck on the Gordie Howe is close to connecting. The lead engineer on the US side answers some questions.

Windsor/Detroit is a very old place. I don't think many are aware of that. Credit to the brits for not changing all the street names

Windsor is still very much a car-centric city and our public transit situation often leaves a lot to be desired.
