Those Vancouver snow pictures could be on postcards, absolutely beautiful.

Today it is a relatively balmy -5, with some on and off flurries/light snow. Could get up to -3.

Sunday looks quite nice - a high of -2 and sun all day.

Interesting to see Vancouver and Victoria have had way more snow than us in YEG. Looked at shots from my Brothers place up by UBC. Quite a bit.

started snowing in east van around 1 pm, I used transit again, no real problems, it was very quiet on the skytrain back home, barely any people on board from VCC Clark to Lougheed, most stations had no people, and roads looked quiet too, I think many people took the day off again. Sidewalks are not much better today and today they have added slushy bits and some puddles. Very few people here wear appropriate footwear, most are out and about in sneakers with ankle socks or no socks and stepping into a pile of snow and slush must be refreshing.

Forecast calls for sleet on friday. Currently 0c and snowing.

I might have to reevaluate my claim that St. John’s and Quebec City look the best in snowy conditions - all these Vancouver pictures are awesome, thanks for sharing!

I haven’t been outside the past couple days as I don’t do snow or cold weather, lol. Plus I only have running shoes and I don’t want to walk in slush. Downtown in Victoria we probably have about 6 cm give or take. Some pictures the past few days from Colin Smith takes pics from Facebook. Sorry for the large image size, but that’s the way they come. The first one is a scene we don’t see at all some winters, it’s from an area called Panama Flats, a low lying marsh that is normally flooded in the winter, but if we get a few days below zero it freezes, then finally we get outdoor skating!

/\ no Chintz is still there, it’s one block to the right of Moe’s in this picture. This location though used to be local furniture store, connected to Standard Furniture I think.

Those snowy conditions reminds me of Kitchener Waterloo during a snowstorm, eg Christmas day 2022 snowstorm & mid January 2022. Love it!
(As a child/teenager, I always went for long walks during snowstorms, back then in the woods and fields or the 3 miles to school - my parents had to sign something saying they'd be responsible for my actions if I got lost/kidnapped etc. Kind of wish I had.)

A sunny cold day in Toronto. Tonight I went for a walk along the Junction strip, Dundas West over to Dupont and Lansdowne. Fairly quiet aside from the yuppie restaurants and Food Basics for us poors.

ah ok

I've never been in Victoria with snow, when I lived in Nanaimo I remember a huge dump of snow, the hills made travel very hard.

/\ A lot of that has to do with the snow removal efforts, or lack there of as you can judge by that gardening tractor picture, lol. Quick internet search shows the 2022 snow removal budget for the city of Victoria was $430,000, but that’s way up from $36,000 in 2016.

Saw a video today from someone visting Leamington that was wondering why the night sky was purple/pink. I've never heard of this before. Surely Flar must have brought this up at some point?

It's apparently a thing down there because of all the greenhouses?

A 37 degree high in Vancouver

....in January!
It is not quite right as places up north have a much higher standard deviation on average.

Doesn't take anything from how incredible the mildness was in Nunavut.

Jesus. That's a terrifying sight. I never knew greenhouses were illuminated with that hue, nor that so many were in that part of the country.

That kind of sight is unfortunate, just because being unable to see the starry night can be a real let down, especially when ones in an area farther from city lights.

-7C with a wind chill of -12 and mainly cloudy. We had however some sun peaking through the thin clouds.

Low of -11C (wind chill of -19) last night.

The warmspot was Solander Island, BC at 8.5C.

For now (for the next 24 hours at least) we are the only city not close to an ocean that has yet to fall below -15C in the country.
-14.2C is the coldest YUL has been. For Downtown it's -12.8C.

Snowy, sleety, slushy, mushy.

Thursday's high at Vancouver Harbour was 1 C, the low was -1 C.

Half sunny here again today, with snow squalls forecast. The West Coast and Northern Peninsula are completely shut down; they're getting it much worse.

A chilly -13C (windchill -25) in Moncton at 8 AM, we are finally feeling the edges of the continental polar vortex. A high of -6C later today.

Beautiful Vancouver pics. I miss the snow
Yes, it seems like Halifax and Vancouver have just experienced a weather juxtaposition. I'm sure it's temporary, though, we be back into it soon enough.

I love seeing snow in Vancouver and Victoria. It's like they're getting their membership renewed.
