I'm still not sure why they have to appear before the Heritage board, but I take it as a positive development.
It sounds like the plans may have changed, because I think the original 12 floor proposal was approved to go ahead.

Alas, I doubt we will ever discover anything about this presentation. The Heritage Board never produces minutes. I think it was probably a closed meeting.

Saint John's board doesn't publish minutes for the general public, but they ARE produced, and I believe they could be requested from city hall. Maybe it's the same deal in Moncton.

The Heritage Board meeting has come and gone, but still it would be nice to know something - anything! It's a potentially major project for downtown Moncton.

I guess we'll just have to wait until the developer comes forward with some news.

FWIW, if the new developers felt it necessary to make a presentation to the Heritage Board, I suspect something of equal or greater stature to the previously approved development.

In any event, I imagine we will hear news about this project in 2024.

If a rezoning is being requested, I presume this will be for the rumoured increased height of this project (?20-25 storeys).

The rezoning request will mean that if city council approves of the project on first reading (and why wouldn't they), then the project will be referred to PAC and a public notice regarding the project will be issued. This means we should have fresh documents (including renderings) to look at within the next couple of weeks.

City council meeting is tomorrow night. I would keep an eye on Mayor Dawn Arnold's Facebook feed tomorrow evening following the meeting. She has a tendency to post images on her feed of exciting development projects that have been presented to council. We might actually have some new renders as early as tomorrow evening.

Alternatively, we could watch the live feed of the city council meeting. Any volunteers???

The developer indicated that they want to start construction this year, and that it would take two years to complete.

In hindsight, I guess it's better that the previous 12 floor project didn't proceed, as we'll now have a more substantial building downtown.

Fantastic news! I've been hungry for some significant announcement (despite MonctonRad's warning over the holidays lol). An 18 storey building is already great news--starting this year? Even better!
