Honestly, yeah. This sounds like an amazing idea. It would work well because it's fairly damn central. Makes it easy for anyone to take the bus anywhere from Orleans up until Tunney's.

Reconverting that warehouse would be perfect, especially with a retail concourse. I love it.

It does sound like a great idea but it would be a pretty significant investment.

I am wondering if there is one operator or a couple of operators who are that committed and confident in the future of the Ottawa intercity bus market to lay down the cash for this.

Otherwise, who will pay?

That would be pretty great. Parking structure though is no longer structurally sound as far as I know, which is fine. Better to demolish it and build housing with frontage on Coventry.

Man, I remember going into the underground section of the Sears warehouse to pickup large items from them, many years ago. I always thought that because of it's location/orientation to the building, and it appearance, you would almost never know that ramp to under the mall even existed, unless you had a specific reason to look for it and use it.

That's surprising, as by my estimate it's probably only around 30 years old.

Went to the mall yesterday and entered through Urban Behaviour. Looks like they set-up shop with zero renovations or alterations to the old Sears store.

On the one hand, good not to waste money and materials on redesigning a store. On the other hand, looks like a rundown good will store.

NOTE: I'm strongly considering renaming this thread to just "St. Laurent Shopping Centre" and removing "Expansion?".

I think that makes sense... The odds of it ever being "Expanded" are very slim in my opinion. Maybe at some point it's "Re-Developed". But an expansion would not appear to be a possibility at this point.

It seems that replacing ugly floor tiles with shiny ugly floor tiles did not do for St. Laurent what a major expansion did for Bayshore 🤷😂

Yeah... The place is just so sterile now. It was my go to for my entire life up until these renovations.

I can't believe we still haven't seen any movement on redevelopment. What's the hold-up?

I can't believe they haven't moved forward with any residential towers on site. It's a decent location for apartments and the lot/parking has more than enough space to accommodate. Why aren't they moving forward on anything?

They've moved on redevelopment of some of their other mall properties outside Ottawa, like Bonnie Doon in Edmonton. Don't know if they started, but they had a plan years ago. Not sure why it's taking so long in Ottawa.
