At this point these incidents are happening under our noses. There was a near-strike of the Oak Street Bridge last month that was largely missed by news media.

This is because the truck did not hit the bridge, but instead hit (and caused collapse of) trolley bus wires—which, of course, caused catastrophic delays for transit riders in the area for hours. The truck was stopped short of the bridge and per pictures I had seen looked like it would have directly hit the bridge with its trailer raised up.

its disgusting at this point.

these people need to be put out of business; permanently.
These are scumbag companies that exploit Indian internationals, who are clearly not at all equipped to operate these vehicles but our economy needs these scumbag companies to operate, so little gets done. We could literally go after these companies tomorrow if we wanted to and cease the legal loopholes that allow them to pop up over and over.

Lobbiest and big business run the country. We ratepayers and taxpayers get bent over.

You ever had to answer one of those questions where you are being painfully honest but it's impossible to say it without it being interpreted as offensive?
I don't think anyone is allowed to truthfully answer that question.

Another overpass hit by a truck. This time in Abbotsford at No. 3 Rd overpass at HWY 1. Why isn’t the province making the replacement of this style of overpass a priority? It might be the worst design of all time. They’re everywhere too. Well, everywhere in BC

Chohan is apparently still running Alberta registered trucks.

because it isnt the provinces fault this is happening. its drivers who dont care, and who can barely speak or understand english, let alone control a large commercial vehicle.

these overpasses havent magically lowered. theyre the same height they have been for 70yrs.

this is ALL on the fault of the operators. they need to be forced to pay for all repairs, and fines. and after the 2nd strike, banned from operating for at least 6 months ontop of it all.

this is ridiculous.

You think the immovable object is the problem, not the drivers?

The same overpasses that have endured 50 years, and have seen all sorts of objects get moved through including massive girders, cranes and oversized loads. It was quite common to see trucks bypass portions of Hwy 1 back in the day.

The trucking industry is a total mess right now. Companies are cutting corners, not measuring loads or pre-planning trips. They are also no longer leasing out storage yards and are starting to park their 18 wheelers, containers or equipment in residential neighborhoods and ALR designated farmland. There's a horrendous practice of driver swapping and putting unqualified international drivers into 18 wheelers and dump trucks.

It's an industry that needs incredible regulation and reform, but sadly, we are doing the opposite.

I do think they are a problem, regardless of the incompetent drivers. Terrible design

I swear I mentioned it a few pages back that any provincial regulations would by bypassed by the operation moving next door.
Well, there you go.

IIRC this isn't even their first business license - they're on their second or third because they keep getting suspended.

Reset the counter: Truck strikes Massey Tunnel

Sparks flew as a truck hauling an overheight load scraped the ceiling of the Massey Tunnel Wednesday night.

The collision happened just after 8 p.m. in the southbound lane.

After, there were traffic reports of a stalled semi on the north end of the tunnel. It didn’t cause major delays and was cleared shortly after.
we need to seriously crack down on companies and drivers. with major 6 figure+++ fines, penalties, and jail time.

Aren't container movers marked as Hazardous Goods transporters, or is that a per-case basis for each container?
I seem to recall for former are forbidden in the tunnel.

Someone put up a website so we don't have to count the hours (that's cheeky) anymore.

Unbelievable! I'd love it if they un-certified all drivers and trucking companies and make them re-certify, and at the same time illustrate they have the skills to actually think while they drive.

Or permanently revoke truck-class driver licences for any dimwit that strikes an overpass.
