I was on site today making a delivery and didn't get a chance to count because it was such a gong show with that pour. I was thinking it looked like they were on 9 - thanks for confirming. Seems like they're lucking out with the weather and doing a floor just over a week.

I was at Canary Lofts yesterday at 1st and Columbia and that building is now definitely under construction. There was no action there for awhile but excavation and demo of the existing building was happening.

As far as I'm aware, they are only renovating the existing building, and building additional ones that connect with it. Good to hear they're starting the construction though.

I had been very worried that that was going to be another Kamloops pipe dream.

I was a little worried too. Glad its happening. I think it's going to turn out good. I'll take any development that isn't designed by Blue Green.

Merry Christmas!

Does anyone have an update for the new/existing construction (101 oak, thompson landing, 156 tranquille, etc.) builds on the North Shore?

Thanks.

Hey guys, I don’t know how to add images, but there seems to be talk about two 6storey residential buildings on North Shore called ‘the Pulse on Eighth’ they plan on taking over the country auto sales as well as the buildings around it.

Happy New Year!

Hey Jenson, I use flickr, but any photo hosting website should work. Just need to upload you photos to it and copy the link in your message. Took me a bit to figure out too. I went and did this project for you. I never heard of it but have driven past the rezoning sign and been wondering what they were looking to put there. According to the city they have both an application in for re-zone and development permit. The yellow outline shows where it will go on 8th St.

Mindcash, I took this one off my roof for you. you can see 4 projects, 3 of which are under construction.

501 Tranquille is almost complete.
The orange tarp on the left is 560 Tranquille. They poured the 1st floor just before xmas.
101 Oak has not started yet.
Above 101 Oak you can just see the 6 plex on Elm is under construction.
Don't have a picture of Thompson Landing, but did a delivery to it a couple weeks ago and they were already on the 2nd floor of the 1st building.

Curious if anyone else thinks 501 Tranquille is as bad as me. Obviously designed by Blue Green, this building is a mess imo. 4 different coloured panels, they didn't colour match the panel frames, so there's a bunch of lines that stand out. White trim windows, which is fine but then decided to add black railings. The ground floor they opted for black frames on the windows and threw in Lux wood panels, because why not. Hard to make Lux panels look bad but they somehow found a way. Blue Green always finds a way. It is a complete mess, I hate looking at it out my window every day haha.

Looking at the design renderings for 501 tranquilee, it really feels like they just threw together leftover materials from past projects and used them here lol

"BC Housing is currently assessing the damage and it’s not yet known how this might impact the timeline for completing renovations to the building," a BC Housing spokesperson said in an emailed statement to iNFOnews.ca.

BC Housing didn't say what day the flood occurred or where the pipe was.

The cold snap dropped temperatures to around -20 Celsius in Kamloops and the apartment building at 435 Cherry Avenue wasn't the only building in the city to have problems with frozen pipes.

The 42-unit apartment's flood isn't the first vacant BC Housing purchase to flood before it finishes renovations.

...

At 435 Cherry Avenue, the $13 million purchase hinged on the previous owner taking on certain renovations. The last owner didn't do the work, so BC Housing held back $250,000 on the purchase, attributing the initial delay to the uncompleted renovations.

Holy crap they STILL have not finished that?? 501 might be butt-ugly but somehow they managed to build that faster than it's taken to remodel an existing apartment building.

One floor away from being half way to full height. Hopefully the snow goes away soon so they can keep pouring floors!

I guess the Country Auto buildings takes the number to 17 for project/buildings along the Tranquille Market Corridor.

https://www.castanetkamloops.net/news/Ka...r-Eighth-Street-in-North-Kamloops#467809

Thompson Landing x 2
Innova x 2
Red Sea Auto x 1
Jamaican Kitchen x 3
Brendan Shaw x 1
Duchess x 2
501 Tranquille Rd x 1
562 Tranquille Rd x 1
Co-op x 1
Interior Community Services x 1
Country Auto x 2

Sure would be nice to have a page like Develop Kelowna to keep it all straight: https://developkelowna.ca/projects/under-construction
