Thanks for the pics jackko. It really does look like they tried to cover the parkade with what looks like toothpicks (scale-wise). Abysmal design that should have not been greenlit for the side facing Bernard. Well, maybe 50 years from now they'll redo the facade...

Debating design on a construction forum is negative? Heaven forbid people have an opinion on what is an obvious contentious design standard that has become common practice in Kelowna.

I don't want anything capable of displaying ads on any building in the city. A lighting feature of some sort would be fine though

There are a few different renderings around, the first original concepts showed what appeared to be a clock or video screen behind the thatching, but looking around on Mission Groups website it shows a cascading water feature behind the thatching facade, in what appears to be water flumes, possibly an ode to Okanagan historical agriculture?

Recent article about the issues of below grade parking. The pressure out from the sheet piles are damaging adjacent structures and city infrastructure. Water street by the Park had similar issues last year.

It's not quite apples to apples but I understand your point. Some of these people have spiraled down so much that they need help now. The more permanent projects take years to build as per the article. They are better bang for the buck though, assuming the people are stable enough to hold jobs and contribute 30% of their income for the units.

I feel like a big warehouse with cubicles would be a better use of money. Help get these people off drugs. Make Drugs illegal again. Make homelessness illegal again. Nurses and security on site 24/7.

Exactly. I feel strongly against "safe supply" unless people commit to rehab and government help to get them off drugs. Not just giving drugs away for people who don't want to get off that. Also, enforce rehabs for people who commit crimes.

Safe supply strategies should 100% be packaged with strictly enforcing no open drug use in public.

You can get your safe supply, but you must use it at the facility that supplies it, monitored.

Not only does this make the general urban environment cleaner and more welcoming for the general public, but it also helps reduce death by ODs.

No more of this shooting up and being cracked out on playgrounds 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵.

Yup Unfortunate.

I would speculate they talk about UBCO offices and residential building and the 346 Lawrence

Offices make sense as they mention it's a struggle to fill up the one they are finishing up in the Block. The project also has been removed from everywhere already.
