I looked at the menu prices didn't seem that bad considering the name. People commenting on Facebook however must not eat out much they were shocked by the prices. Even a Triple O's burger these days is pushing near $20 when you add fries and a drink.

Yeah, you can tell it's not Ramsay himself. No swearing.

Drove by the old West restaurant location on Granville this morning and now there's a new "Leased" sign in the window. Does anyone know if this is to be a new restaurant or converted to retail?

In Gordon Ramsay's case doesn't the quality scream and shout for itself? Usually with some profanity thrown in?

hopefully it survives, looks nice.

I went to Gordon Ramsay last week, it was nothing mind-blowing. They use frozen fries, the same ones I have used at a restaurant I worked at a few years ago. Also the fries were cooked differently on my plate to my bf's plate, mine were very pale and soft, his were more golden and crispier and were so much better. I doubt they make the patties in-house either. Taste was ok, had a fish burger and the backyard, which is the basic one, the buns were nice, the fish was ok, the people beside us complained about their fish burger and never finished it, but ours seemed ok, maybe she found a hair I don't know. the service was extremely slow, it wasn't even that busy around 8:30 pm, they had a lot of staff working so I can't excuse the lack of staff for very slow bad service. We probably waited 10 minutes before a server even came to the table and than a long wait for the food, at least 30 minutes.

I wouldn't rush to go back, I'd prefer Red Robin if given the choice.

Bin 4 is pretty much my go to burger place now. I noticed that they recently dropped the little helping of complimentary housemade chips they used to give everyone. Tough time to be in the restaurant business.

I like Red Robin burgers but the atmosphere in the Robson one is so dated and tired and the service is, um, unpolished.

Some more restaurants opening up at the Quay

Quote:
Fiorino, which already has a successful Italian street food restaurant in Vancouver’s Chinatown, will be opening a new location in the second-floor restaurant space the Chesire Cheese previously leased.

In keeping with the international street food theme, Mai Mai BBQ will be setting up shop in 2024, which they Quay says will bring familiar dishes but “re-imagined and elevated.”

For the plant-based foodies, Chau Veggie is joining the food hall, a third location beyond their West End and Victoria Drive offerings. A release from the Quay says to expect “soul-warming pho and vibrant summer rolls,” among other family recipes.
Quote:
In October, the Quay fired their general contractor on the site and took over construction management, Mathiesen said, after suffering significant losses. Legal action will be coming, he added.
Quote:
There is no timeline for when King Taps, the Quay’s new anchor tenant, will open, but interior work on the 10,000-square-foot restaurant space should be started in the new year, Mathiesen said.

I saw in a newspaper article about the new Gordon Ramsey Burger in Coquitlam that they have just over 5000 reservations so far, that's crazy. If each reservation can generate just $75 thats big money.

It will certainly have a novelty factor. Staying power is another matter.

Interior looks worse than a White Spot..

They probably had a lot of incentives to open at the casinos so unless they mess up the food quality or pricing horribly I don't see it being that hard to make it work. If they were paying downtown leases that would be a different story.

Are they going inside the Canada Line stations like so many failures before them?

it's an odd space inside, there is also a seating area on a raised level inside the casino, with a bar and you can watch the slots from your table. We sat inside at a table for two, there was a couple at the table next to us which was only about 1 foot away, it was like they took what could be used as a 4-seater and split it into 2, it was in a corner too, felt a little awkward. Side note had a burger at the Match restaurant at the casino in Langley the other night and it was a lot better than the one had at Ramsay's, the fries were so much better too.

the bar area at Coquitlam.

It looks like some american airport teir restaurant like Wolfgang Puck, maybe they'll expand to a mall food court at some point.
