Re: Canada House

People might knock the exterior architecture of the earlier pre 2005 Concord stuff east of bathurst (in comparision with Canada House and the flashier looking newer buildings) , but most of the floorplans in these buildings are actually liveable with generous peninusla kitchen counterspace and a nice added bonus of gas stove hookups. They're the only Concord buildings I'm considering buying in.

I find the opposite. Concord typically gets knocked down because of the new stuff including Canada House. The new stuff is universally hated for mediocre designs and finish. The older stuff receives criticism for not living up to the architectural firm's standards.

Classy, glassy curves on the podium. Nice to know there’s no cheap-out on the curtain-wall promise.

Looking down Yonge.

After the quick turnaround pouring the latest floor on Friday, walls and super-columns were poured yesterday (Monday).

The Rail Climbing System (RCS) used for cladding installation is moving up more quickly as the third hanger section appears.

This looks like one of those images where an illustrator inserts a ghost image (One Bloor) behind the tower under construction to show where the construction is at compared to where it will top out.

Great curtainwall shots of SkyTower from @skycandy (Phase 1 is behind).

Still prepping the massive transfer slab for a mega-concrete pour on the 12th level soon... yet the crane is just visible right of centre (Phase 1 @ 65 storeys is to the right of the crane).

skycandy

Somewhat similar angle to @skycandy's shot above, shows SkyTower towering 40 storeys higher than Phase 1.

With 1 Young I feel like so far from what we've seen from the first phase and now this, they may actually turn out better then the renders.

Bear in mind that many developments will used high quality (or even curved curtainwall) on the podium and then switch to the more standard fare on the tower portion.

Pretty sure SkyTower is spec'd for curtain-wall up the tower (and certainly the crown), except for the fritted balcony sections where window cladding is set back... so likely window-wall there (mostly obscured by balcony glass).

A ton of work (and a sea of tension bars and rebar) prepping this mega-transfer slab… now getting a mega-concrete pour.

Just shy of halfway to the top, so double the height of this view up Yonge Street.

Two supertalls in a shitty suburb, promoting a mediocre suburban lifestyle. Sad how backwards Canada is going.
