Unfortunately, that block will be the victim of such shortsighted nonsense for years to come. Im sure appeals will happen after that regardless of rulings. Best bet is for the Kailas family to sell the property and thats not likely. I just hope that some sort of temporary use of the property can happen that at least make it appealing from the sidewalks and street until such a time as its developable.
Word is owners settled almost all of the suit against them and the master settlement talk is going forward. Would be nice for some sort of group settlement to work and the site can get developed or even used for something. City is crazy for taking the conditional use. IF OSHA didn’t cite the owner then the city was way off base, considering the inspectors didn’t show up. Whole issue was old CM Palmer, tried to appease her base without much knowledge or real expertise. Better person in that seat now.

Reality is this is America and this is their land. Objective reality is their name was dragged through the mud by Palmer and the destroyer..without any OSHA violations, city inspectors not showing up, and Palmer granting the CU. They sued the city to allow Demoliton..City was so incompetent during and after the collapse. Removing the CU devalued the site and that decision is in the lawsuit.

You’re right government doesn’t care about legal bills. Maybe if it did, this whole process would have gone better.

Reality is this is America and this is their land. Doubt selling the land will change much for Kailas one way or another, so why would they sell. Objective reality is their name was dragged through the mud by Palmer and the destroyer without any OSHA violations, city inspectors not showing up, and they sued the city to allow Demoliton… I don’t think Kailas is going to give up the site. Why would they? OSHA report is their trump card.

City was so incompetent during and after the collapse, I doubt these owners will sell the site. Removing the CU devalued the site and that decision is in the lawsuit.

You are right . CM Palmer gave the city a nice little present on her way out to appease a small but vocal minority and the kailas will most likely win in court as they should because they got that cu correctly and legally. but still politicians will waste everyone time and city money on a stupid endeavor.

So many interesting tidbits to dig into that the Airport will be presenting today to the City Council:

First heres a link to the page that has the agendas for the presentations that are going to be given.

https://cityofno.granicus.com/GeneratedAgendaViewer.php?view_id=42&event_id=23973

Here are the slides:

So a lot of things to digest here but from what I am seeing and maybe its just my amateur level knowledge but that kind of projection of terminal growth seems to indicate something the airport hasnt really divulged to the public yet when it comes to air service.. major expansion or hub city for someone. I know breeze is growing fast but this seems like a really large amount of growth in a relatively short period of time and I dont think its some pie in the sky thing either since they are in different stages of planning and construction of all this and we are already to 2024 so time is running short to even provide for the baseline scenarios.

Also, its nice to see what the ultimate plans are for entire airport and the new transit modes. So we have the north south connector road map and the routes for the buses which will also be the future route of the airport rail and that rail will also connect by crossing airline hwy to the future intermodal terminal that will
be built south of airline hwy against the rail track. I always was wondering how this would work so its good to see it shown here. Assuming a disney world type elevated monorail system is what they are planning for the whole facility to cross all these roads and highways. Also, guessing the ultimate plan will be airport rail that replaces any bus rapid transit once the airport rail is live.

Other notes of interests: the plan for the hotel is still on, they are expanding current terminal to east which we all know about (however that isnt shown on the map so maybe change of plans to just new terminal to west? )they have plans for a new terminal the west of the current one and then on the south side they are still referring to terminal d as a terminal and plan airport transit stop at which you wouldnt plan for if you had intentions of demolishing. So all in all a very interesting update I think.

hahahahha.. i mean i dont really get food halls appeal myself to be honest.
That said I think someone should attempt one thats more in the style of Eataly in NYC. I think local foodies would really be drawn to that but this glorified mall food court things isnt my cup of tea.

Maybe mix it with live karaoke or something to make people want to come and do more then just eat. Anyways what’s going on in the last pic with the VA Hospital?

Think of it another way. A food hall is a great microbusiness incubator. We'ew typically not talking chains here but small businesses that would not be able to afford their storefront and the foot hall is a great oppurtunity to start out with shared resources.
