Loving all the fog pics!

While dreary cloudy days are common in Japan, misty days are surprisingly few, especially at sea level, where I am.

Another mixed bag of fog and sunshine depending on when and where you were around the Vancouver area.

Tuesday's high at Vancouver Harbour was 5 C, the low was 2 C.

Tuesday was a beautiful day on some parts of the west coast of Vancouver Island.
I was surprised to see it so cold at Tofino.
I'll bet those logs in the foreground are covered in frost.

I put together a rough timelapse of the full 24 hours yesterday from my security camera, including the heavy rain on a lazy Tuesday afternoon

The smart detection system really struggled once the rain started running down the window, and ended up thinking lots of vehicles were people, or not recording people at all, and I cut out a lot.

Couple of things stood out to me...

- Fewer people than I would've guessed walk in the middle of the street. It's normal downtown (I suspect it's a habit from winter, when the snow is stored on the sidewalks), but it seems most people use the sidewalks.
- The brown house across the street is still a drug den but much less of an issue now. It's not nearly as active with foot traffic, so I guess it makes sense there's probably a disturbance (shouting, fighting, whatever) only once or twice a week now. It used to be multiple times daily.

It's looking as though the "will it be rain or snow?" system for this afternoon is indeed going to be snow, especially in St. John's. Should be 10-20cm. Schools on the Northeast Avalon have already announced they will be dismissing students an hour early.

This is my first winter relying on the bus to get to and from work and I'm curious what happens. Most white collar businesses in the city close when Metrobus pulls its buses off the road; it's the most common gauge they use. But I've never had to catch the bus following that announcement and I've no idea how St. John's handles it. Do they make the announcement long enough before the buses actually stop running so people can get home? Or, as I suspect is more likely here, do they pull over, kick everyone off, and head back to the garage?

-4C and sunny in Moncton at 10 AM, only getting up to -2C this afternoon.

Generally benign forecast in the short term, but, we may get our first significant snow event next Monday (?15 cm or so).

We are closing at noon; shouldn’t be any issue with the buses as they’ve not announced a closure yet No snow or anything yet.

Yesterday's high was -2.1 and the low was -7.4, coldest day so far, made worse by the freezing white stuff everywhere. The snow definitely makes it feel colder.

Thankfully it should be gone by tomorrow as temperatures head back to the plus side for the next two weeks. I only see one low below freezing, next Tuesday night.

Sun came out as I was heading home for my snow day

There were Protestants of some sort (not Anglican, obviously) selling Jesus and getting nowhere lol

EDIT: Forecast has officially shifted west. Most snow will now be west of the city We'll still get some, and potentially more than 10cm. Hurricane Igor really did a number on us. Up until then, we were still completely normal by Canadian standards as to when we closed, etc. But in Igor that meant lots of people, even white collar office workers, were dismissed in the middle of the storm facing hurricane-force winds, road washouts, etc. So many people were stranded and employers, especially public ones, took a merciless beating. Since then we've tried to preempt storms and give people time to safely buy their beer and chips and get home.

I'm not directly a civil servant anymore! Arms-length now, though same pension plan

I'm going to collect all of these clips that my security cam captures

EDIT: Still not a single snowflake here BTW. lol I've been off work for 2.5 hours lol

EDIT: Still no snow at all. It's 3C at my place and there's been maybe 6 raindrops total lol

EDIT: I’d normally be getting ready to head home now and…

We will never get another snow day. Still not a single flake.

A snowfall warning with no snow sums up maritime weather pretty well lol.

We seem to have settled into a pattern of foggy nights that start clear up in the morning, with clear sunny afternoons. No complaints from me.

If you want to take a little trip and warm up again, it was +3C in Iqaluit today.

I've been appreciating the dry weather in Vancouver.
Rain is on it's way though, for sure.

Wednesday's high at Vancouver Harbour was 6 C, the low was 2 C.
