California seeing a sizable influx of new residents relocating from Texas

This hatred and blame in Texas is mind boggling. In California, I'm not aware of systematic hate towards Texans moving here. For the most part, there's interest in the person and for me, I'm like cool, welcome to California!

I think you mean "your" life in Houston is not different from the Bay. If you are like shopping at the mall or going to the movies, it's the same everywhere. For people who are active or love the outdoors, there's a big difference between Houston and Bay Area. Weather alone can influence your lifestyle. We drive up to Lake Tahoe on the weekend when there is fresh dump of powder to snowboard. During the dry season, my friends are planning something outdoorsy, like hiking in the nearby mountains, backpacking in the Sierra Nevada, hang-out at a city park, a bonfire on the beach at night, etc. I'm pretty sure my lifestyle will be different if I lived in Houston or anywhere in Texas.

Yeah especially with that heat wave Texas had this summer you definitely would not be able to live a similar lifestyle if you’re into the outdoors.

I think some people mentioned that some Californians moving to Texas or other places are being pretentious about it and dissing the local culture when they arrive. If you’re going to move to a new place to start a new life there you might as well be nice rather than be that transplant from X city.

Texas reminds me of a bigger version of Bakersfield but when I go to Bakersfield I’m not going to diss the locals just because the sushi isn’t as good.
