I'm at least going to wait until the actual railings and details are done.

Far more elegant than the Flora footbridge across the canal though. The asymmetric midway kink on that bridge still bothers me.

Bothers me too. And unlike Flora (which is nowhere near Flora Street, of course), the NCC kept the curve.

I noticed that too. We couldn't have the curve for the Flora bridge, but for this bridge, it was possible.

Almost everything about that bridge design bothers me. It's great to have, but it was designed by several subcommittees.

For sure. I don't see how having to build a meandering path to comply with AODA slope requirements precludes the possibility of also having a more direct path for others.

I don't think so. Desire lines appear where people travel from point A to point B. This park is for strolling around.

Looks good. I'm looking forward to seeing it complete and exploring it a few times next spring/summer. Could be a good spot to watch sunset or fireworks.

Looks fine, but nothing amazing. To me, the bridge is the only absolute improvement to the area. Wish they had a water feature, pond or fountain.

Also, didn't the NAG have multiple art pieces up there? I only see the 100 meter line.

There was a piece in the spot close to where the trucks are in the photo above. I assume it'll go back but who knows.

Oh yeah, remember that one now. Cool one that adds some lighting at night.

The bridge will be a huge improvement. It effectively makes this an extension of Major's Hill Park, which is always busy with people. This is going to be one of those spots that is popular with tourists and with locals, as the views will be amazing.

I haven't been following this project very closely, so I was surprised to see so much progress has been made! IMO, it's a definite improvement over what was there, but as per usual with NCC projects, it still leaves a lot to be desired.

For starters, I don't know why we have to rename absolutely everything with an Algonquin name!?! I understand and appreciate and wholeheartedly support measures for reconciliation, but renaming everything to me is not the solution. There are other ways to honour indigenous history and culture. I liked Nepean Point, but oh well.

I also don't get the purpose of the huge bunker on the tip of the point. It reminds me of WWII concrete bunkers in Europe. Seems we could have made something more fluid and natural in appearance. Again, oh well.

But I do LOVE the connection that the new bridge brings. It'll be awesome to have Major's Hill Park flow nicely into this redeveloped Nepean/Kiweki Point. The bridge does look a bit bulky from the street view beneath it, but I'm sure that could be softened with some flags/drapes of some sort, or bronze maple leafs, maybe placed between every 3rd or 4th rib.

Anyways, overall, I think this is an improvement. I'd give it an 8/10 and looking forward to seeing the final product Thanks to everyone who posted pictures!

Here's the video from the competition. Lots has been taken out from the original vision. Disappointed we didn't get a better integration with the NAG.

Actually it seems pretty close to the video, which is surprising, really. We're just missing the dotted line connection to Lady Grey, and the Stage. But I wonder what the dirt patch is just to the left of 100 ft line in that update photo above? Is that a natural slope for 'seating' where the stage is just an informal setup on the linear sidewalk towards the NAG?

As for 'integration' with the NAG, the layout of the pedestrian paths is exactly as shown on the video, we're just missing 'future collections' sculptures to be added.

Yup. Stage and public washrooms were ditched. Statues relocated from the plan.

Watching the video, there's the helix sculpture and the Three Watchmen (green totem poll) that, I hope, will make a return to the Point.
