Beautiful pics Sawtooth. I don't think we see photos of that angle of downtown very often.

Construction of Micron's memory chip manufacturing facility officially begins.

The project will cost about $15 billion, making it the largest private investment in Idaho history.

Quote:
On Thursday, Micron officially started constructing the United States's first memory chip manufacturing facility in 20 years. The homegrown tech company celebrated the expansion and its 45th anniversary with a ceremonial concrete pour.

“Soon, Boise will be the home to one of the world’s most advanced manufacturing facilities,” said Scott Deboer, Technology and Products executive vice president.
Quote:
Micron estimates building and running the facility will bring more than 17,000 jobs to Idaho. At least 2,000 of those employees will work directly for Micron.

Report: Idaho tops list of states for in-migration
Marc Lutz//October 13, 2023

Quote:
There’s something shiny about the Gem State that’s drawing people here.

A recent study revealed that Idaho tops the list of states people are moving to from other states due to job opportunities and housing affordability.
Quote:
Millennials topped the list of the generation moving to Idaho, mostly from Washington state. Colorado loses about 6,000 people per year to Idaho, however those are mostly Gen-Xers.

https://www.storagecafe.com/blog/top-states-people-are-moving-to/
Quote:
Idaho has been experiencing the highest net migration rate in the United States. For every 1,000 people residing in Idaho, approximately 25 new people moved there in 2021 – that’s five times more newcomers than Texas welcomed in the same year.

Boise's booming: Insight and the city's response to concerns
Chloe Baul//October 17, 2023

Quote:
“Boise is doing much better than many downtowns across the country. There isn’t a glut of office space on the market here, which is a significant contrast to other cities projecting no new demand due to the shift to hybrid work,” Dixon said. “Downtown Boise’s office buildings are not only being constructed but also occupied, showcasing its robust economic performance.”

He emphasizes that Boise’s appeal extends beyond just its economic growth. The city’s walkable, mixed-use environment with restaurants, cafes, breweries and public spaces aligns with the preferences of the majority of new households.

“Downtown Boise offers a unique blend of amenities within a five-minute walk, making it an attractive place to live, work and play,” Dixon said. “This trend is reinforced by the fact that people increasingly want to live close to their jobs.”

The Idaho Outdoor Fieldhouse is officially open! I love to see another great addition to the city and hope that it fulfills its purpose of helping veterans and athletes with whatever they need.

Micron construction plans support company’s $15B expansion in Boise
Chloe Baul//November 13, 2023

Quote:
The centerpiece of this project is a sprawling 600,000-square-foot semiconductor cleanroom — a structure equivalent in size to 10 football fields. Spanning across 340 acres of land, the ambitious $15 billion expansion effectively doubles the size of the existing Boise campus.
Quote:
“What we do in Boise is one of only two places in the entire United States where this advanced technology is developed. It’s Boise and Hillsboro, Oregon, with Intel,” he said. “Other than that, you have to go overseas to Asia to look at anything even close to comparable.”

Looks like the Ovation is still active!
Just saw this pop up in the Boise permit database. It's from a few days ago. Appears to still be at 23 floors. Hopefully we will be getting more news soon!
