Regina not 'balancing' infill, outskirt housing development: motion
"We've not succeeded in getting intensification downtown, and there's been concern raised about whether of not there's sufficient greenfield

Coun. Bob Hawkins (Ward 2) wants the city to be more “flexible” with housing developers on projects in all parts of the city, to head off potential shortages in Regina’s housing supply.

What happened to the catalyst projects? You don’t hear about them anymore the city is Ducked up.

Regina wants federal housing accelerator money, but may need to make changes to get it

City could receive up to $36.2M from the fund, which would drive 1,100 permits by 2026
Why would they use this picture it’s clearing not Regina

It definitely is Regina. That is Horizon Station Park in the background…

It would be great if they could access this funding and use it to drive infill development.

Yes The Towns. If anyone wants to know why its called Horizon Station:

Quote:
When Terra began the design of the park space in the Towns, they reached out to the grade six
class at St. Gabriel School to provide feedback. As part of the process, they took the class to parks
and playgrounds throughout the city to discuss what they liked about the spaces and what they
thought could be improved upon. Based on that feedback, as well as needs identified through the
Recreation Master Plan, the design of the park was completed with a train theme. When construction is finished the park will contain a regulation size athletic field, a boarded rink, small nonboarded skating loop, warm-up shelter that resembles a train station, picnic area, neighbourhood
dog park and a partially accessible playground with a train theme. Based on the theme for the
design of the park the grade six class at St. Gabriel School, also selected the name Horizon Station
to submit to the Civic Naming Committee for approval.

The federal government is requiring fourplexes permitted on every city lot.

Good luck with getting that through this city council.

That picture looks to be about 2 years old. Taken from around Kaufman Avenue facing south. The houses in the foreground are on Mutrie Crescent. The park is on Buckingham. That L shaped building on the left faces Chuka to the left and is just getting finished now, it's been under construction for around 3 years now not sure why its taking so long.

Google Maps is fairly messed up for that area. OpenStreetMap is most up to date. https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=1...031/-104.51527

Google Earth has imagery of that area from what looks to be September last year. The freshly paved area on the left started getting houses this year. The two parallel roads on the lower right are completely built out with houses already. https://i.imgur.com/GncGv4U.jpg

Government should take those facilities over, like they did with Extendicare during the pandemic.

Some snowy pics from the Cargill Plant. https://imgur.com/a/lsANEbv

Not sure how many more times I'll get out there, once it gets cold and windy I mostly bike inside the city.

The Cargill plant is taking shape. It’s gonna be quite the add to the skyline. Thank you for taking the pictures.

Regina is about 0.0059 population of Canada (228,000 of 38,700,000). That ratio of 4 billion would only be 23.7 million.

Well when you factor in that only 100 communities in Canada. It’s even more embarrassing.

What do you mean? If one of those communities is Toronto, then that alone accounts for around 16% of the entire country.

If I take the top 100 population centers I get a potential take of 40 million. Which isn't that different than the 32 million. If you also factor in that the current government couldn't buy a vote in this province for several factors more than that, is it surprising? Maybe out current leadership isn't very good at peddling our issues.

How much are you expecting Regina to get. My point was that 32 million didn't seem very out of line with what we should expect on a per capita basis. Factor in that our median home price is lower than most of Canada and is it that surprising?

Given that we've taken federal funds and misallocated them (transit perhaps) to other things I'm not sure that if I was running a federal program if I would reward the municipality.

Does anyone know what is going in the old liquor store on Quance street? The building has signs saying it is leased and there is work being done inside the building.
