If they are that far ahead in the design then that is what it's going to look like. It seems like they added some balconies or something sticking out over that arch on the West Hastings side on the Winch Building.

Just stick a free public viewing platform on the roof and I'll be happy.

I can see your point, csbvan, but I still think that, assuming it is given a proper 'finish.' as was mentioned, maybe white-and green marble with elegant street level windows to complement the elegance and maturity of The Hotel Vancouver, framed in brass (or other elegant metal), the white and green marble for an elegant finish, the green tying together the roofs of Hotel Vancouver and Christ Church Cathedral, the white complementing the Royal Centre, and the super-classy design forming a dramatic, attention grabbing centre-of-downtown location, I really think it belongs somewhere high profile location, Burrard and Georgia being the most central: the two ceremonial streets of Vancouver.
As for Broadway, I am sure some really smart designs will come onstream, but too much height there might be an issue. The buildings planned there thus far aren't all that tall. For Broadway, I'd go for a feeling like Westwood Blvd in LA, with an elegant street wall punctuated by several 30-plus storey buildings.

Rumours are that Amacon may try to convert an office building at 1144 Burrard Street into a hotel.

I've spent a hard couple days at the vet which have ultimately ended in losing a member of our family today.

So as a distraction, and to get people talking, I wanted to float a rumour about a new hotel project coming to an unexpected part of Vancouver, though it's a little hard to nail down its exact location.

As for the guess, it's not related to the St Paul's Campus, that area is already too filed in.

There's already a small hotel proposed near Oakridge, so I guess not there.

UBC would be unexpected, but there could be demand (although UBC residences are rented out in summer).

Thanks both, we've gone through this years ago with our other cats, but a fresh wound is always the toughest, particularly as it looked like we had caught the problem causing his red blood cell collapse, and that he was bouncing back.

Back on topic, I'll confirm this is not at Oakridge, that's way too far inland.

Playland maybe? Hastings and Renfrew? A parking lot currently occupies the southeast corner. That area could use a new hotel for sure. With the new amphitheatre, could be a smart spot for a new hotel project.

It’s also right off one of the only freeway exits in Vancouver. Which is seriously lacking in accommodations

On this topic, I've heard a rumour about a couple more hotels in Vancouver that are in the very preliminary stage. I can't say where at this point, but one is generally located in the West End, and the other around the BC place area.
