On July 30, 1903, the Times reported that "sporting man" Thomas Fitzgerald had let a contract to build a $10,000 house at Hart Avenue and Ocean Front.

Goodwin made a number of additions, including a conservatory, to the house over the next few years.
Times Feb 1, 1919...it seems Goodwin sold the SM house not long before he died himself, the death occuring not long before he was
to marry for the sixth time. Note also that Hedda Hopper's husband (she was
his fifth wife)--and Paul Drake's father-- makes an appearance:
